What steps do I take when I need to visit a doctor? (still new in Dubai)

Hi ladies,

We arrived in Dubai a few months ago and I have no idea what I need to do if I want to visit a doctor, luckily this hasn't been necessary so far. (insurance is all taken care of)

We have been trying to get pregnant for quite a while now but no luck yet, even with ovulation tests. So I would like to visit a doctor to get some advice and a check up for myself and maybe my husband to start with.

In Holland we had a GP or a family doctor that you needed to visit first, he would send you to a specialist if necessary. How does that work here in Dubai? Where do you go first, do I find a GP and go there or should I try to see a gynaecologist straight away?

Hoping you can help me with some advice & tips.

Thank you!

Search for a list of specialists at City Hospital. They're highly suggested. I used to consult with Dr Azizunnisa Shaikh, but i heard she has moved to her own private clinic, not very far from City Hosp.

Hi ladies, Thank you for the replies! @Bingo12: Thank you for the info and the suggestion about the hospital! :-) Belinda: Thanks for the tip about the Dutch gynaecologist in the Ranches, I will try to book an appointment with her and see how it goes from there. It's so different from Holland, I did not know where to start exactly.

Generally if you know what you want - as in your case seems to be regarding fertility - you can go to a specialist directly. Try to find a recommended one - search on EW as this subject arises quite often. You can also try the better hospitals - the American Hospital has generally been well rated. Some other hospital may be not so good and best avoided.
