[b][b]Hi moms of Dubai,
My baby Sara is going to celebrate her first birthday in October. I'm looking for ideas, places, themes... anything that can make a first birthday a memorable day for her. Please feel free to share your experiences and thoughts. Any idea is welcome.

Thank you,

Najla

Thank you ladies for your precious advice. Honestly that's what I wished I would hear, and what I'm comfortable with. I'm preparing for a nice cake and we bought already a fairy dress :) I hope she'll have a cute party! Thxxxxx Najla

Depending on when in October, a park might be nice... but yes, it's just for the photos. Your daughter will have no idea what a birthday actually is, let alone that she has one (the excitement and anticipation only seems to kick in at 3 or 4 years old!), so get a pretty setting, a couple of balloons with "1" on as a backdrop, a pretty dress for the pair of you and a cute cake. Take along a blanket and some toys and the kids will just sit and play like normal while the grown-ups fuss and coo!

yeah, 1st birthdays are for the pictures and parents. Don't have many... even any - kids. Don't worry about a superfandango venue with balloon shapes, clowns, jugglers, petting zoo and all the rest - plenty of time to take out a loan for that in years to come! Another one for keep it simple. So agree on don't worry about a super fandango venue! It is just another play date with a cake and a few nibbles for the adults. Don't go all out and stress yourself. We all have the for the future years to come!

We just did my sons 1st at home, with healthy banana cupcakes and fruit salad for the kids, and a helium filled balloon for each to take home. We timed it for just after his nap and had everyone out the door again before his bedtime at 6pm, he loved it, be sure to take video because she won't remember any of it. Kids that age can be scared by theme-parks, clowns, costumes etc so save all that stuff for later birthdays and just stick to familiar faces and places.

yep, agree with previous posters - 1st birthdays are usually for parents and their friends, not for babies. Just choose the place that you like to celebrate with your LO and your friends :)

I'd have to agree with guinness... you've made it to the one year mark! Make it a simple celebration (say a BBQ at home or similar) and enjoy the day. LO's don't need much in the way of entertainment, they just love being around people and balloons and empty boxes!

One year olds don't remember. Pick someplace that will be nice for you!
