Hi everyone I am looking for some good advice and suggestions....
I am now 5 weeks pregnant confirmed through blood test just wondering when you all went for your first consultation and/or scan with your gynecologist? Some are telling me 6 weeks some are saying 10 weeks and others a saying wait until 12 weeks as this is my first pregnancy I am unsure...
Also can anyone recommend a good gynecologist who does antenatal packages,we don't have private medical insurance...not too concerned about the birthing costs at this stage as we may return to our own country by that time.
Thanks :-)

Thanks everyone much appreciated.... Have been looking at antenatal packages and thought since they all start at 12 weeks that's when the first appointment should be..I think we will go before the 12 weeks and pay that one off time then get an antenatal package. :-)

I had my first appointment with OB/GYN at 8 weeks where I had an ultrasound to confirm due date and I also had all of my blood tests done. If you're going to get an ante-natal package then get it before your first appointment because the first round of blood tests were a couple of thousand dirhams. The Doctor explained that at the 12 week mark I could opt to have an NT scan for the first sign of Downs. They measure the fat pad at the back of the baby's neck. I was glad that I went at 8 weeks so that I could think about whether I wanted to do the NT scan at 12 weeks or not. City Hospital offers antenatal packages for 5,500dhs which includes your first consult with OB/GYN plus 11 follow up consults, 2 ultrasounds, blood tests, Glucose test and a few other things.

Congratulations! It's entirely up to you. In the UK, you'll have an appointment with the midwife to confirm the pregnancy with a urine test (and maybe blood tests if your local health authority is feeling generous and/or there are any signs of problems) and then you won't see anyone until 12 weeks, when you'll have a scan. Here, I had blood tests at 4 weeks with DS but not with DD, and a few scans before 12 weeks with both of them. If you want reassurance that all is OK, go see someone now. But if you're happy to wait until 12 weeks, that's fine too.
