hi hi, we're going through an awkward change phase in bubs schedule. he was happily 3 sleeps a day, 8-9, 12-2 and 4-5.
i have a feeling he could cope with 2 sleeps as the morning nap is getting longer and the midday nap is now closer to 45 minutes.
any advice on how one drops a sleep? should this just happen naturally?
FYI he's still BF 3 times, when he wakes, before the midday sleep and before he goes down at 7.30.
TIA as always

a quick thanks again for the great advice. we are on day 2 of 2 naps (rather than 3) and last night we actually had 12 hours straight sleep (7-7) a new record! we pushed back nap # 2 and today he went down from 1-3.30...thrilled it didn't take too long to settle back into the new routine AND then we had his first steps taken today so double happiness in this household:):)

I know what you mean, DS is in bed when DH gets home but I'd rather he had quality time in the morning rather than right before bed anyway to be honest, (tends not to be "winding down" play) and its better they go to bed at the right time for them, rather than keeping them up to suit you or DH. good luck!

At 10 months my DD slept 8.30am till 11am and then 1pm till 3pm she just stopped doing her tired cues for the 3rd later nap and extended her 2 morning naps . We never changed ner bedtime though as DH doesnt get into 6pm a good day.At 1 year she now sleeps 9.30am till 12.30pm and then maybe 40mins at 4 pm. With eachadjustment i tried to follow her cues IE face rubbing, grumpyness and puther into bed as andwhen. Was pulling my hairout for a week and then it all settled down into her new routine. Goodluck,it can be tough!

thanks ks, i think you're right and thanks for the advice. i didn't want to have to bring the bed time earlier as DS gets home at 6 and loves spending time with him but it might be necessary in the long run.

oops you did say bedtime was 7:30, I'd bring it to at least 6:30 or earlier to start with and then see if he copes with later. (mine still has a 6:30 bedtime)

Try pushing the midday nap later and dropping the third nap completely. I'm guessing with a 4-5 nap bedtime must be quite late? You might need to bring it earlier to compensate.
