Does anyone use or know of a good agency for babysitting services? DS is 3 months old and we are thinking about using a sitter for the occasional night out and also sometimes for a few hours in the day. I work from home and may have to go to meetings every so often so it would be good to have an agency we can rely on as we do not have a maid.

DaisyD, if you would like someone you can trust to come to your home during the morning hours or if you want to go out with dh during the evening, there is a German/English 27 years of age, professionally qualified to work with children of all ages and First Aid trained with lots of references of families in Dubai - try to call this number 050 8817335

I dont know a reliable babysitter service but I would like to give some small advice of letting her come over a few times before you leave them alone. Imagine baby waking up and than some random stranger picks them up, that would be traumatizing. We used a non agency baby sitter once, a friend of a friend and just the fact that I knew she didnt know how to settle him (becoz she didnt know him) in case he would wake up, made me think about it every second I was away. I called and sms-ed maybe 20 times to check and didnt enjoy my hubby and me quality time. We rushed home after the movie and that was the last time some "stranger" babysat for me. We were planning on hiring from Howdra 3 times a week for 4 hours so that I would have some freedom. I had to actually stalk them to get a maid. I kept telling them I want a girl that has experience with babies and if it works out well than I want the same one untill the summer. After calling them numerous times explaining that I needed a maid/babysitter they finally sent me a girl. She never touched a baby in her life, she was 19 years old, barely spoke english. She started cleaning without a word, than without washing her hands she wanted to touch my baby. I was shocked. She held him as if he was a lepra patient and I threw her out of the house after 3 minutes of that.

Hi daisy d, we use home maids for odd babysitting and overall are quite happy with their service. We have a 5 mo. I've found it's a good idea to request someone with good english just in case you find they have to call you for anything if you're out. Our first trip out the babysitter called and just held a screaming baby up to the receiver - not so helpful and i rushed home immediately just to settle the little chap - luckily we were only 5 mins away. Once we found a lady we (and bub) liked we simply request her again and they have been most helpful. They are homemaids.ae
