Who protests to strollers, car seats, high chairs .... Basically any form of restriction!
She is a happy, fun, funny, expressive, active and intelligent little 1 year old but she is a nightmare whenever I try to take her out. She screams bl***y murder in the car seat unless someone entertains her fior the whole journey and in the stroller, she doesn't scream or cry but she just kicks and whines and basically protests the whole time until I take her out and carry her.

I see all these other babies in the mall just quietly sat in their stroller for hours or sleeping away peacefully no matter what the noise or atmosphere and even babies/kids asleep on the parents shoulders ...... Mine would NEVER switch off if we are out.

She is basically happy when she is free to wander and play in space or play area ....

Is anyone else's baby like that????? Totally high maintenance??? Have I caused this or is this her personality?? I honestly haven't met any ther babies like her ........

Yes, same .... Mine has been demanding since day 1 also. There is no toy that occupies her longer than 1 or 2 minutes ..... She is very highly strung! The only thing that she genuinely sits still for and enjoys quietly is when she watches Mickey Mouse Clubhouse :/

Natashak, my dd is excatly the same, she is such a happy little girl. But she is very busy, and only happy when she is free to do what she wants to. She too cannot switch off in public. She has been like this from day one. I believe babies/toddlers like this are called high need babies. I dont think its your faults as parent, our kids are just a bit busier than others.

Natashak maybe we can go together to malls :) my ds just turned 5 months and he screams and shouts all the time in different pitches. he is trying his newly emitted sounds daily and feels proud of himself!! although my ears have started ringing now. he screams in his car seat whenever the car stops at signal and then keep on screaming which turns into full blown cry.even if i sit in the back and entertain him its of no use. i always sit in the back with the seat belt on so that he can co-relate but no!but he is happy to be in his stroller and only wants out when he is tired and want to be held. if we switch on the cd or turn up the volue as the OP suggested he screams more. he does not like any sound above his own :D yeah but he do sleep irrespective of the noise if he is sleepy. he used to communicate by saying" ninnnnn niinnn" before but now he shouts when he is sleepy too so i have to understand why he is shouting! high demand babies! the only thing which quiets him down, so far, is continous rocking even if he is writhing and wriggling from my arms and the ergo baby carrier. he is quiet in that too.

What about toys? There are some nice ones at toys r us for high chairs, get few to alternate. Special toys for push chairs too. As for the car, when my boys started crying or getting fussy ,i used to turn on the cd, childrens songs, and they would stop immediately.
