What do you do reg. sterilization of bottles during long haul flights? And in case you take ready made formula cartons, do you take a separate bottle for each carton?
Apologies for those daft questions, I'm a bit worried about the whole travel issue.

Why don't you consider buying the single use bottles from Babyshop or similar and taking them and when they're used - toss them out. I know it's horribly bad for the environment but for ease over your flight it could be an option? Good idea. Do you happen to know if I can find them at Mothercare? They're a Medela brand (the one's I have) so they don't sell that brand at Mothercare...

No problems leaving Dubai with 6 botlles of steralised water and cartons of ready made formula, only returning. Could take Milton tablets and steralise onboard but that is a hassle.

I had a similar problem when visiting the in-laws at Christmas in the UK but UK airport seem to be the only ones doing that (in Europe at least). I used Geneva, Zurich, Amsterdam and Dubai airport without having to open or "taste" anything. Dubai was the best airport to use with a baby from my experience! ! Add Australia to that list of 'baby/formula security friendly' countries. When I heard about the UK security making mothers taste 50% of UNOPENED cartons I was gob smacked!

I also take enough bottles to see me through the flight but to avoid having to carry tons of stuff I used the bottled water on the plane (they can warm it up for you) and formula in small container. Apart from this I think travelling with a baby is fun. You get to talk to all sorts of people you probably wouldn't otherwise!

On the way back from the UK at Xmas they made me open all the sterile bottles containing water and sip from each and when i argued that then it wasn't sterile they were not interested, same with the ready made formula in the cartons. :( And did you have any problems at Dubai airport?

No question is a daft question when it comes to the care and health of your little one. ;) In my case when I travel (to Oz, so definitely long haul) I simply take enough bottles to get me through. Last thing I want is to be worrying about sterilizing on a plane. This is the case whether I've had pre-measured formula or the cartons. HTH
