Has anyone given birth at medcare recently?

If so hows was it, did it go as you wanted it too?

What did you get with the package? And did you need anything extra?

Hi there! I gave birth 3 months ago, planned c/s (2nd baby was too big for a VBAC after an emergency c/s with my first). It was great, better than I expected, and the nurses were very friendly and helpful. The hospital was full and they wanted to put me in a shared room. DH threw a fuss about having a "planned" c/s and noway won't let his wife be in a shared room. They put us up in the royal suite for 1000 per night extra. starsouthern I am so jealous that they got the upgrade for free!! DH really tried to negotiate and thats the best he could do:p I had DD1 at Medcare too 2 years ago. The hospital staff remembered me (supposedly - or they just saw in my records that I was there before, and I did tell one that I remembered her)...they joked about seeing me again 2 years from now;) Believe me I will go back if they keep up the quality of their service. As a side note I had my own doctor who delivers at Medcare so I can't comment on the doctor or the antenatal care.

Hi there, i went there Dec last year. bub is now 7months and a cheeky little thing. Basically, i had some complications during the pregnancy and i found Dr Shiva totally down played it. I get a liver condition called cholestasis which can cause still birth and bub needs to be delivered prior to 38 weeks max. (got this condition with DD1 so knew what to expect and what had to be done) She was going to book me in at 37weeks, however realised it was a public hoiday so said oh you would be right till 38weeks. Erm no, so that was that and we went to the head of the hospital and got the date on the 37th week. Also the other thing after bub was born, she was fine, healthy, breathing ect, but they took her away. They took her out of the OR and my husband and wouldnt let me see him or her for about 2 hours. In which time hubby was freaking out as he didnt know how i was, and i was freaking out as i just wanted my baby. not sure if this is standard practise, but highly traumatic to say the least. Depsite these two things, the care from the nursing staff was amazing, Dr Shiva's general demenour is friendly and informative, and i did feel taken care of after i had bub. In saying that, if i had it to do over i would choose Dr Elsa at City. Or Dr Luthra at Medcare. Go and meet the OB's and decide honestly you will know who is right for you. My friend delivered a couple of months before me and the hospital was full, they got a royal suite at no extra charge! I was hoping the same would happen to me but no such luck ;) <em>edited by starsouthern on 21/07/2011</em>

I'm following up with Dr.Azza in Medcare, & planning to deliver there. one of my firends told me that if there are no empty private room, they might put me in a shared one (with 3 other patients), this what happened with there. I'm very scared of this point, & wouldl ike to know if anyone had this experience in Medcare?

I gave birth there 2 weeks ago. I had fantastic care. The nurses and midwives were fantastic. Dr Luthra was amazing. I was induced at 42 weeks. I didn't want an epidural, and was not pushed at all into having anything that I didn't want. I had to have an episiotimy because baby was so big he wasn't coming out Dr Luthra tried getting him out without but just wasn't happening. I was admited into the hospital on july third to be induced and discharged on july 5th total cost for baby and I was aed 10k this included all our care, private room, delivery, medication, vaccines, food ect. This was my third baby, apart from the stiches I had no complications so was left well alone by the nurses as I had asked to be. However if I needed anyone they were there within minutes. You can ask them to take the baby into the nursery but I didn't.If you have any specific questions I'd be happy to answer them.
