I am 13 weeks pregnant and would like to get active after 3 months of on-and-off morning sickness. I want to get back into yoga and from experience, not all yoga teachers are equal. I had to try a few before finding a wonderful teacher at Zen Yoga but she doesn't do prenatal yoga. If someone can recommend a good class / teacher, I would be grateful. TIA

Hi Confusion, I think stick to a more relaxing class like a Hatha or Hatha Flow as it is probably a very turbulent time for your body with all the extra hormones, emotions etc, so definitely something with a more meditative edge would help you more. They used to sell this DVD at the town centre and may still have it there, it is a fertility flow one. The lady who teaches it came over to Dubai a few years ago. Here's the link on Amazon...http://www.amazon.com/Fertility-Flow-Yoga-Mercedes-Ngoh/dp/B00339VV9E. Alexandra at Zen Yoga does a lovely class at the Town Centre, I think it is Vinyasa Flow, but she is very experienced and if you had a chat with her beforehand she would definitely be able to give you some advice. But basically, just listen to your body and how it feels from day to day, do what feels good and don't overexert yourself. If you can, try to get a little meditation in, even it is just for 5 minutes. Finally, if you don't have time to get to class, www.yogaglo.com is a great site. It's about 60 dirhams a month to join. There are some great relaxing Yin Yoga and Hatha classes on there that would be great for you. Cheryl x

Hi Sorry for nipping in on this thread but yogachezzers and Eva can you please recommend what kind of yoga would be best for me as someone trying to conceive and going through IVF? I cannot go to the Fertility classes at Zen as I work but want to do an evening one in Town Centre (or weekend) if possible. Any expert advice wouldbe very gratefully received. Thank you!

Hello, like Eva I also teach at Zen Yoga and have a prenatal yoga class on a Tuesdays at 10.45 Emirates Hills Springs Town Centre. It is also a nice, challenging flow! I am 17 weeks pregnant myself, so enjoying teaching and connecting with other mums to be! Cheryl x

Hello, if you like a vinyasa style yoga, come on Saturday at 9am for a prenatal at Zen Yoga DMC or on Sunday at 10.45am in Zen Yoga Emirates Hills Town Center. The classes are dynamic and flowing and you can call them challenging. At the same time, you can modify and take it as easy as you want if it gets too much - modifications are always offered. Nice bunch of ladies (especially on Saturday) so an opportunity to meet other mums too :-). Eva x

Hi, Im in the same situation as you. I have not tried her yet but planing on next week. There is a lady that does yoga outside at Al Badia Golf Club on their grass lawn. Its not only for pregnant ladies but the instructor has just given birth herself so she knows it all and can assist and tell us what we can and cant do. She works at flowyogadubai.com i think its called She does classes mondays and wednesday at 09.00. Maybe i'll see you there!

Hi Perla, have you found any classes at all? I am teaching prenatal yoga in Dubai Marina - if you are interested, please let me know and I will send you my details. TC
