My 17 month DS has been scratching his bum a lot lately, i suspect its worms. Just got zentel medicine from pharmacy but it says for 2 years and older. Has anyone dewormed their little ones under 2? What medicine did you use?

If your baby has pin worms you will be able to see them. After your child is good and asleep for at least 30 minutes, take a flashlight and check in their bottom. You will be able to see tiny thread like worms scooting around. If it is pin worms you will need to treat the entire family. I think most anti-parasite drugs that treat pin worms are OK for toddlers but you must check with the doc first of course. It is a horrible thing to see pinworms coming out of your baby but they are harmless.

Thanks ladies. Just realised, I had a stool test done for my LO 2 weeks ago and it was cleared. I am taking the stool report and popping in to see another paediatrician to get a second opinion. My original paed refers to all the rashes/ red skin/ itchiness as eczema..... time to get a second opinion. Edited to add - LO has really been scratching his poop area (an**)..... and he started on nursery 2 months ago. We also went to India 3 months ago, so I was pretty sure it is worms he's got. edited by nams_new on 04/03/2013 Excellent website and medication on her suitable for little ones http://pripsen.com/resources/downloads/Pripsen%20Leaflet%20A4.pdf

What medicine did you use? I always get someone coming to visit to bring in a worm medicine (In my case, combantrin from Australia). You should de-worm the whole family (including your Maid if you have one)

Where has your 17month old been to catch worms? I would suggest something else at his age, sensitivity to a soap, washing powder etc. I did deworm my boys but not until KG when they were playing with many other kids, sharing toys, food etc, and germs are everywhere and boys are difficult to control. I suggest you take him to the Dr for a check and go from there. I would not be self medicating a 17month old.

Take your LO to the doctor, dont give any medication, it probably is not worm,
