Hi Soph- I bought a bunch of ovulation prediction urine tests from boots a while ago. This is my first cycle using the test and I finally got a positive result yesterday on CD 19 so lets see what happens. =/ I might be going back to the states in a few months and can just pick up some digital tests from there but thank u for asking. :) I live in the Marina area. I would love to get together for some green tea, or coffee is fine too, as long as I don't drink it allll the time. :) Dubai Cat- I just went to boots and picked up the fertility diary/ thermometer kit. Thanks for the helpful information. :)

Typing with one hand as stuffing dinner down face :D I got my thermometer and recording diary in a package from Boots in Ibn Battuta. Pink box, 95dhs, where all the ovulation test kits are. Am off to UK on June 2 and am happy to bring back some OPKs if you want to order some to Mum's?

Hi sal, Thanks for the message. You are totally right that we need to stick the diet and stay positive- its just that some days I find it harder than others!! I've got a feeling you cant get those thermometers here- it might have to be something you have to get from the UK!! I can ask my mum to get 2 if you like? Are you using the digitalovulation tests.. they are the easiest. They are soo expensive here though, my doc advised me to get some from the UK- they are only 20 pounds a bix there as opposed to 50 pounds a box here!! Where abouts are you, i live in the Greeens..... if you ever feel like a chat over coffee, or healthy green tea.... :)

HI Soph- I also have PCOS. Moved here little over a year ago. Planned to have babies right away and after trying for 3 months, I found out I had PCOS. I was prescribed metformin 2200mg a day. I'm not at all overweight and after taking the medicine for almost 10 months, I've lost about 5kg. Right now, I'm trying to find out whether i'm ovulating and will most likely start clomid next month. I'm using the ovulation tests for this cycle and so far i've only had a negative read. I'm also trying to find one of those thermometers to chart my temps and will you know if I find one. I guess all we can really do is try to stay on a healthy diet, stay positiive and be patient because I know one day it will happen for both of us! =D edited by Sal 123 on 25/05/2011 edited by Sal 123 on 25/05/2011

I took 50mg of clomid from day 2 to day 6. I ovulated on day 10 (acording to the digitalstick!!) and I had the test done 8 days later??!! Maybe the ovulation was to early in the cycle, and that affected the reading?? But those test sticks are said to be really good and I did 2 tests to make really sure because I was excited to be ovulating as I have not before!! Can you get the thermometers here for charting temps- I would be very interested to learn more about that. I guess I just didn't really want to do it because I worried that it would be a constant daily reminder... if you know what I mean!!! Thanks so much for the advise and support. I am trying to stay positive as I know it WILL happen for us. I just sometimes have days where the whole thing makes me feel very blue.... its something I want so much for us to have a family

Do you know what day of your cycle you ovulated, and what day of your cycle the test was done? It's called the 'day 21 progesterone test' but really it should be done 7 days post-ovulation - from what I understand of it - so if you ovulated on day 19 then the test was done on day 21, your body hasn't had enough time to start producing the progesterone. It's only if you ovulated on or around day 14 that the test would show an accurate reading on day 21. This is what I was told when I was having the tests. Charting temperatures would tell you when you ovulated and how long your luteal phase (the second half of your cycle) is, both of which would be useful if you do have progesterone issues.

Hi Dubaicat, I did have the test done at city but I have only had 1 test done there for the progesterone... so they could not have got it wrong!! I have not got to the temp charting yet- but I think that might be the next step. My doc here is great but she is on vacation til next Monday- I know she will expalin it all and tell me what to do. I just dont know why my test was so low if |I got a positive test??

Hi SophW We stopped using contraception around four years before we conceived DS. I had the usual battery of tests and aside from insulin resistance and cysts on my ovaries (but not full-blown PCOS), nothing seemed to be wrong. Then I had the day 21 progesterone test and it was 0.19. I was sure I'd ovulated, as I'd been charting my temperatures and saw a clear thermal shift, so I asked the lab to check they'd sent up the day 21 progesterone and not day 3. They'd sent up day 3. Of course there's no bl00dy progesterone on day 3 of my cycle! Then they eventually sent up the right result and it was better, but not great. I can't remember the exact figure, but my doctor said it wasn't high enough to indicate 'spontaneous ovulation'. We were prescribed Clomid but we decided to have a three-month break from trying before we took it. We had a last-gasp try naturally before this, and fell pregnant. DS is now almost one. Have you been charting your temperatures? It might be worth a go so that you can have a better idea of whether you're ovulating or not. It'll also give your doctor a better idea of where any problems might lie. I do have a book on this but I lent it to another EW'er and haven't had a chance to get over and get it back yet. I can explain it all to you via email, though, if you like. I found it invaluable. And just double-check with the lab that they've sent along the right day's results. Especially if it's City ;).

Hi, I just need a positive boost, or maybe someone has been in a similar situation. We have been ttc for almost 2 years. I was diagnosed with pcos- so lost 10kg and was told it was alomost gone.On metphormin 2500mg and last month started wtih Clomid 25mg to help me ovulate- nothing happened. This month did 50mg clomid and got a positive ovulation on the test stick on day 10 (did 2 tests just to be sure!!) Had a progesterone test 8 days later and it was 0.14!!! Very low as I understand that is needs to be at least 10 to ovulate and 19 to get pregnant!!! Really feeling blue as I thought things were starting to work and now I just feel like this is another negative. How could I get 2 positive tests and then have such a low progesterone result. Has anyone had this happen, but then got their progesterone up and become preganant on clomid and metphormin?? Just feel very confused!!
