Yep, just uses the camera on the devices, no need to buy anything but the app. If its your own iPad/iPhone with same apps, you only buy it once. But my husband can connect his iPhone to my old iPhone too but he had to buy the app again for his iphone...if you get what I mean. It's still a cheap but v good solution:)
Hi-we bought the ibaby and though my darling boy is 20wks, we still haven't set it up! He sleeps in a cot in our room so we don't use it in the night. During the day I found a fantastic app on my iPhone called baby monitor. It doesn't eat battery life, it gives audio and video, has a microphone to talk to baby if youre not there, works through wireless and 3G when our of wireless range, and cheap at £2.50GBP! You need two iphone/iPad to work as a baby station and one as a parent station. I had an old iPhone 3G that I leave with my boy, and I carry my iPhone with me.
Just a suggestion if you have a few apple devices-this is fantastic and I doubt we will use the ibaby! Maybe when we move my little man to his nursery? Hmmm maybe...
Thanks for the suggestion, will try it when baby girl appears.... So I just set up the Ipad cam and then connect it to the i-phone with the app right? No need for a webcam?

We live in a villa which we sometimes think must have been constructed out of concrete and lead - we have problems with using our phones and have had to use WIfi boosters all over it. We tested some friends traditional DECT monitors, and found that we just had constant interference and feedback. As good as useless.
We originally didn't want a video monitor as we thought we'd just end up watching baby TV all the time, but realised that the video ones can be set up over a wifi network and then accessed on your smartphone, so no issue with coverage in the house, and we can access when we are out. We purchased the Withings baby monitor, and are testing it by setting it up in the hall and spying on our dogs. So far it works a dream - we can log in when we are out and see them wandering about (and trying to break through the dog gate!), we can talk to them and tell them to go back on their beds, and set it to play lullabies (probably better for babies than dogs). It also has sound / movement alerts which you can tailor so you don't have to watch it all the time. I think you can set it up on up to 5 iphone / ipad / android devices at a time, each with individual alert levels. We bought ours at Sharaf DG, but they also had them at the Virgin megastore in Dubai mall.
It's not cheap compared to the traditional baby monitors, but we're really pleased with it.
I can recommend Motorola, we are happy with it and video is fine, they have it in Babyshop

Ladies,
Need your help with a baby monitor. I havent a clue which one to get and would like one with a video. However we live in a villa so need it to be excellent quality wth no interference etc.
Any ideas would be great.
thanks
