Thanks so much duddym, i think I will go there tomorrow and try it out. I'm from Oz, but I'm rather impatient and want a new one :) Bit concerned that it is still too hot to use that, possibly only suited to the really cool AC in Dubai Mall, bit definitely not MOE. I also have the maya wrap, I bought it from an online store here, can't think of the name. Does anyone know of another wrap that is cooler and suited to 4+ months?

Sparkly, I have the ergo and I love it. You can buy them at Smitten in Marina mall or online at babysouk. I'm not sure where you are from but actually worked out slightly cheaper than getting it in UK.

Hi All, I have the baby bjorn and don't think i will keep using it. I don't have any problems with shoulder pain as I searched online on how to carry it low so the weight is on the waist rather than the shoulders. But due to the hip issues, I would like to look around and see what else might work better. I was wondering where to purchase an ergo carrier from?? Anywhere in Dubai? TIA

I love my Kari me stretchy wrap and had a Close Baby Carrier which was great too. I just bought a new Kindercarry Kinderpack. It is absolutely amazing and so comfortable but they are not cheap. Would highly recommend although it'll have to be shipped from the US (I had mine shipped to the UK). http://www.kindercarry.com/

I used a peanut shell sling with my son from about 5 wks till about 15 mos when he got too wriggly and just wanted to run all the time, I would have kept using it longer if he'd let me, I definitely recommend it!

I tried my Ergo with the heart2heart insert for the first time today and my LO is 5 1/2 weeks old. We were in Dubai Mall and he snuggled right in and fell asleep for a couple of hours while I shopped. When he woke he was very hot though, as was I. He was crying from being overheated and had a wet diaper. For some reason many of the malls don't seem to have the AC on very strong. We were in MOE the other day and my LO was also crying there from being too warm and he was only in a shortsleeved onesie, no bottoms, no socks and in his pram. I've read so many positive things about the Ergo in terms of being good for you and baby. Also a few of my friends have them and have recommended them.

hi mols - i can't comment on whether sling is better for new borns but with regards to the heat question - we got the ergo performance which we found to be the coolest - and biggest as my DH has a broad back. there is also a baby-wearing group here at the dubai mall organic cafe where you can go to try out or for wearing tips...i went there to get them to teach me how to use the ergo on my back, very helpful! safe travels with the precious cargo

really strange - twice now ive realised that the first part of that msg is missing - and it hasnt resent it ! I had said - thank you both for your kind suggestions! I have heard great things about the Ergo. And Sweet Lily - i too have heard things re the bjorn - altho 2-3 baby shop consultants in london tried to pitch bjorn to me when i was there last week. Im not there yet for the birth - just over obsessing about everything already lol ! And thanks for the consultant tip - didnt know such things existed! will defo try and and arrange for one.. so do you recommend sling over carrier at the newborn stage?

have also heard great things about ergo - perhaps it makes sense to just get that with baby insert! ohh i remember - there is also a new bjorn summery type carrier which supposedly addresses back issues - i remember my own concern when i saw the ergo was how thick it was - isnt it heavy here with the heat?

Oooh. I love my Ergo. I carry both my 3 month old and my 20 month old. I use the Ergo with both of them. For both of them when they were newborn until they were a couple months old we used a Moby wrap. But they do grow out of them fairly quickly. I have read a lot of information that raises concern regarding the Bjorn. It can cause pain and injury to the adult using it but also because it doesn't support the legs of the baby it can be harmful on the hip joints and cause hip displacement as they develop and grow. I have also read a bit about hollow back and spinal problems with them also. So best to really check into that before using it. It's for these reasons that we always use an ergonomically correct baby carrier. http://www.becomingmamas.com/babywearing/ and http://www.babywearingschool.com/babycarriers101.htm have a bit of an overview of the carriers. My favourite to use is my woven wrap. I use that one with both of mine and my husband's favourite is the Mei Tai that we have. Are you still in London now? I do know that there are babywearing consultants there and there are also sling libraries where you can go and test some out before you decide to buy. hi mols. i've heard that slings are great for new borns too but most friends that had them only used them for a very short period of time. we got the ergo carrier with a new born insert (which is like a lovely cocoon) the best thing about it is that we are still using it now and my son is 18 months old. when the bub is bigger you can use it on your back which we plan to do on our next trip. also the ergo is great for your back and you can easily juggle other bags as the LO will be so snug and secure. it also has handy pockets for passports/ tickets etc good luck with the trip :)

Hi Ladies - i will be coming back to dubai a few weeks after delivering in London and think i will use a babycarrier/sling and check in the pram. Any recommendations for best sling/carrier? someone was telling me the new bjorn i could use for a 3week old...some are saying slings are better hwen they are that young - any suggestions?
