my DS and a boy in nursery are such good friends that when i drop DS off in the mornings, the other boy squeels with delight when we walk through the door. DS then runs over to hug said boy and it's the cutest thing ever. they are the same age (17 months).

i know this boy is an only, as is my DS, and i'd like to arrange a play-date but dont know how (sounds stupid). are there any "rules" to this? do i just send a note home with this boy, asking the mum to ring me so we can have a chat? and then is a play-date only for a couple of hours? the parents will stay for the duration i assume. i'm scared it might be awkward. i dont want to mess this up as they are really close and i'd like to nurture it obo my DS.

any tips gladly received!

TIA ladies

he IS a wonderful little boy. i met his dad once at drop off and we exchanged pleasantries but that's about it. they drop their little boy early, so we miss each other. and when DH collects DS, the little boy is still there - so another missed opportunity. i will leave a note in his bag with my number and take it from there. will let you know how it goes. thanks perpetual mover x

Do you ever see the parent of the other child? Or does a nanny/ maid drop off and collect the other child? If you see, the parent/s just smile and then talk to them. If you don't see them or if the maid/nanny has poor language skills leaving a note in the bag is a good idea. If the person is from a different culture they may prefer meeting somewhere rather than coming to your home. Be brave and communicate, it is the only way to make friends for you and your son in Dubai. This is how I met two of my best Dubai friends! The little boy sounds awesome so I am sure he will have great parents!
