Hi ladies, im 22, british and expecting my first, havent even had a scan yet but guessing im around 4 weeks.

Ive no maternity cover, so will need to go with the hospital package's.

To be honest i dont know where to start and how to do things. Most women have said to me call City Hospital, get a package price, and go with Dr elsa, Dr britt depending on who is free.

Can someone help me with all of this? I definatly want to be at City, but is anyone able to reccomend me any more doctors? As im sure these have long waiting lists, and in the mean time of waiting how can i take care of myself and check things are okay?

Feeling very nervous and stressed. Im sure once i get the ball rolling it will all be okay!

Just to second what Ummzarinah wrote, Dr Elsa gets cancellations all the time, so you may not have to actually wait that long to get on her list. I'd say- call daily even and see if theres been a cancellation for that day- and if not ask them to make a note to call you if there is. She was following me until 26 weeks then I left for Canada and I'm a huge fan of hers!

Hi, I'm going to simply re-iterate the recommendations you've been getting because I'm currently at City Hospital and with Dr. Elsa. Dr. Elsa is great, and yes, she has a long waiting list but as you're 4 weeks pregnant you can actually afford to wait. The hospital packages don't start until you're 12 weeks so you have 8 weeks to be on a waiting list. If you get on Dr. Elsa's waiting list and they say there are no appointments until November you just keep calling to make sure you get an appointment at 12-14 weeks. If you visit City Hospital and manage to speak to Dr. Elsa's nurse (which is an extremely easy thing to do) then she may be able to help you get an appointment as well. ORRR you can get on Dr. Elsa's waiting list now. Schedule an appointment now with whatever Dr. is available on your 12th week and see that Dr. until Dr. Elsa becomes available (this will also help you get your foot in the door with Elsa as you can speak to the ladies who do the appointments and tell them you're looking to switch to Elsa and if there are any availabilities you'd like to be switched). Most of the Drs at City are good and you'll probably like whatever Dr you get but don't skip the appointment with Elsa. She's just better. Dont take anyone's word for it, just make sure to check her out yourself when you can. I switched over to her at 35 weeks!

I second Dr Annika, I'm due in 3 days and she has been fab. You can always get an appointment and she is really helpful and clear through all stages of pregnancy. For you as a first timer I'm sure she would suit you as she is super informative etc. Besides from folic vitamins and staying calm not much to do before 12 weeks :)

First of all congratulation. Don't worry at all, the moment you will star with a doctor everything will be easier. I can't comment on doctors in City since I don't know them but I can advise regarding what to do until seeing a doctor. You need to star taking Folic Acid 400microgram, multi vitamins are not necessary in early pregnancy. But (Pregnacare) has vitamins and Folic acid, it is around 39Aed and enough for one month. It is perfect for pregnancy. Then you need to maintain healthy life style: balanced food and enough sleep. Stop smoking and drinking if you do any. And enjoy being pregnant as much as you can. You really don't need to see doctor at this early stage in pregnancy unless you have a previous medical history. Other wise you will be completely fine with 4-5 weeks waiting to see a good recommended doctor. Actually at 4 weeks, it will be hard to hear a heart beat or seeing the fetus on a scan which might cause unwanted stress. Just Relax and enjoy.

Hi I'm with dr annika who is Norwegian and she is at mediclinic dubai mall but delivers at city, she is fairly new and absolutely lovely and has no waiting list. Dr Elsa has at least 6 months! If you go for appointment they can give u details of package then. Hope this helps :-)
