Do they give formula? Do they keep the baby in your room or in the nursery? edited by na115 on 12/07/2011 Your baby, your choice! I suggest keeping baby with you in the room at all times, those little newborns look awfully lonely in the nursery.

One more thing...do they provide the initial set of diapers and things for the baby? I should've asked about that first instead of what they have for me! haha :P yes they'll give you diapers and wipes, pampers and johnsons if I remember correctly

All the best CK1 - you are in very good hands. Dr Ibrahim is fantastic. I forgot to mention that he had to perform an episiotomy - even though it was my preference not to - and he later apologised and explained in detail why he did so and the consequences of not doing so. My stitching was perfect and four/five days after delivery, the side effects were gone. jc2010 - you have to take your own hair dryer. Like you, I had hoped to take lots of photos and wanted to look my best. However, this will entirely depend on your disposition after the delivery. FYI - there are no electricity outlets in or immediately next to the bathroom so take an extension cord!

not a silly question jc! I can't remember if they have hair dryers cause I took my own travel one!! I packed the same way as I would for a weekend away, that included my regular toiletries and hair products. You'll be looking at those pictures for a long time and sharing them with lots of people, all eyes will be on the baby but nothing wrong with wanting to look good!

This im sure will be a really silly quiestion and most probably the last thing on my mind when I have my baby, but everything i read says do what you can to try and look your best for piccies after babies born. My problem is my hormones have made my hair horrible, and if I wash it and dont dry it with a hairdryer it would be horrendous and greasy straight away. Do city have hairdryers?? its like a hotel in so many other ways!! Or do I need to get Dh to grab mine before the hospital run?!? As i said, I know its a daft question but im sure you all know whaty its like in the last weeks...the little things that niggle on your mind!!

M: so happy to hear that and also that dr ibrahim was your gynae. He's mine too and I chose him as I heard he's really good in delivery. I also had problems delivering my first by heamoragging (no spell check) and had a blood transfusion. Hope it doesn't happen this time Hope all is ok now and thanks for the info.

Also how did you find the nursing staff and after care? Hi CK1 - yes, you also get slippers! As for care, I could not fault the hospital one bit and would gladly return to have another baby there. The midwives on the labour ward were the most caring I had ever encountered. Suzanne was the midwife who assisted Dr. Ibrahim in my delivery and she is an absolute god-send. She is one of the most caring and supportive women I have ever met and she pre-empted every concern, every pain and every emotion I was experiencing. She was like a best friend and coach at the same time. Once the delivery was made, I was returned to my room where various nurses and midwives dropped in to check in on me and baby. I was later moved to the maternity ward for recovery. I suffered significant blood loss and had three transfusions. Again, nurses and midwives were great although extremely busy - the ward was full but I never waited more than 2 minutes for someone to arrive if I pressed the buzzer. Dr. Ibrahim visited me every day and sometimes more than once to check in on me. A number of other specialists including physio Juanita and lactation consultant Sameera dropped in to provide advice and offer longer term assistance. To be quite honest, I was sad to leave the hospital! Feel free to ask any other queries and all the best : )

I delivered at City last week. You will get: - hospital gown to wear during labour and delivery - you can request fresh gowns as often as you like - disposable underwear - although I took my own "nanna undies" which I was happy to dispose of, as I had suffered significant blood loss during vaginal delivery and then continued with heavy bleeding, the midwives constructed nappies for me to wear consisting of sanitary pads and disposable underwear - much more effective and comfortable! - endless supply of sanitary pads - nappies for the baby - baby wipes - nipple cream (not sure if this is supplied as a matter of course but you can request it) - range of toiletries including shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, soap, toothbrush and paste, comb etc. I stayed in the hospital gown for most of my time in hospital except for the last two days where I wore comfy lounge clothes. It will really depend on your recovery what you end up using. Take outfits for your baby, onesies are enough. I took a swaddle for the baby which was invaluable as it tended to be cool in the room and I found that my baby really liked being bundled up. The hospital food was surprisingly good! They have a special menu for the maternity and labour wards with a selection of 3 items for each course. Finally, you will need to take copies of your and your husband's passports and visas as well as a copy of your attested marriage certificate. All the best!

I wore ordinary, comfy clothes during the day and pjs at night. Other things to consider are maternity bras, nipple cream and nursing pads. I also took along make-up to spruce myself up:) I second the nipple cream. Even if this is your 2nd baby!

drinks and snacks... fresh milk if you like hot drinks with real milk. chocolate and cake for those post birth munchies and multiply that by 10 if you're going to breastfeed... you'll probably be very hungry in the hours/day following delivery and hospital food just doesn't satisfy!! if people call/text you asking if you need anything, tell them yes...... cake, biscuits, chocolate!! and take your breastfeeding cushion if you're going to BF, trying to juggle precious new baby and squashy pillows is another pain you don't need.

The hospital belongs to the same group as Welcare where I delivered so I presume they will provide pretty much the same - they also gave the slippers, disposable underwear and pads (but these were not very nice at all, so you may want to take your own). Do not forget your mobile charger (with the stress of the early contractions I did) and a camera for the big moment! Are you having c-section? If so, you will be admitted for 4-5 days so you may want to think about entertainment - I took books about baby care, etc and my iPod, as there is only so much TV you can watch and people tend to visit in the evenings once they get off from work so you have quite a few hours to kill. Oh,Im so excited for u!! Big regrets here with me for deciding to have my baby at home...(as In home country, not literally at home), id say at the rate things are going there Ill be asked to pack the bed and blankets along with the regular nightwear etc etc!! Loadsa goodluck your way :)

They were very good, nappies, wipes, maternity pads are all provided. They will provide baby clothes if you want but you will need at least one going home outfit. I would take a few sleepsuits and a blanket for baby. For you, take snacks, although the food was very good having a snack on hand was easier than calling down to the cafe (which you can do). You will need PJs, clothes to go home in. They give you little slippers, although you may want a dressing gown. Good luck!

They provide pretty much everything. U can take ur own baby clothes if u like. Plus ur nightwear, underwear, etc. They do provide hospital gown and disposable underwear tho. i had delivered there 4months back.. cant think of anyting they dint have. :)
