Good range baby monitor?

I have the angelcare monitor which is awesome however we've just learnt that when we have a BBQ and are out in the garden the monitor has no range. So we cannot leave DS in his nursery when napping and go outside. Kinda defeats the object of a monitor :(
Can anyone recommend a cheap and cheerful monitor that has good range that we can use now that the weather is so glorious we're outdoors a lot
