Hi all...feels a bit silly to post a question like this from the other side of the world, but I'm not sure where to get an overnight answer here. :)

After a confirmed case of hand foot & mouth at my toddler's daycare, I'm 99% sure she now has it...red spots at the corners of her mouth, discomfort eating, four or five blisters on each foot, nothing on her hands (yet).

My question...can my 6yr old go to school tomorrow or should I quarantine him? Poor little fella has only been back a week after missing a week because they all had atypical mycobacterium infection. Enough already!

Thank you. Fortunately it's been a relatively mild case for my toddler. We saw the Dr yesterday and he said to keep them all at home for two days. If the older two had no blisters by tonight they are probably not going to get it. He said many, many kids get it and never know it...it's so contagious and often almost no visible symptoms. Anyway, the little one is much better today but no daycare until it's all healed over.

Definitely on quarantine. Mine just had it and the dr said they can't go back until they aren't contagious - blisters not pussy is the best I could figure out from him. Mine's mouth really hurt, I used the cream, but there's a spray too, I can't think of the name. The good part is that once they have it they are not supposed to catch it again. Good luck.

My DD had this when she was just under 2yrs old. From what I remember it was considered highly contagious and she couldn't go back to daycare for a week. I would definitely keep my other child home if I were you. You would feel terribly if someone else's child got sick. Hope your little one feels better soon.
