This week I've dropped DS' soft toy for his pram in the carpark, and paranoid about putting it back on as he is starting to reach for it now.

Have Dettol spray at home which unfortunately is for non-porous toys only, and the washing instructions say 'handwash only' but I am worried this will not be enough ...

I very occasionally put soft toys in the washing machine on a normal wash or sponge them down. However, DS's sucky toy gets washed in the washer every 3-4 days (otherwise it really smells!) and will occasionally be put in a wash with fabric bleach.

Germs, viruses etc can live something like 24 hours on a soft surface, so basically unless its got something spilt on it, just put it away for a couple of days if you are worried.

how old is your baby? unless he is a prem newborn I think you should try not to worry too much. seriously... what do you think they'll be infected with? presuming you didn't drop them in dog sh1t, in which case I would put them through the washing machine or throw them out, otherwise, personally I would leave them out in the sun for a couple of hours.
