With both mine, I stopped both daytime and night time nappies together. I bought a plastic sheet and put this under the main sheet. I woke them up when I went to bed and took them to the toilet. Only a couple of accidents, a few nights laying in wee generally does the trick ;) After the first week both were completely dry. Start as you mean to go on (if you think she's ready), tell her she's a big girl now, and won't be wearing nappies anymore, resist putting her back in nappies once you have made the decision.
thanks , gr8 help :)
just one more thing....i tried nappy free night , last night for the first time. she did nt wee at all, so no accident. but when i took her to the toilet 3 times during the night(2-3 hrs interval) ....she could not wake up....she was sitting on the seat sleeping and just a 2 sec cry to go back to bed.
how do i deal with her being in deep sleep? wat does it mean?
When my kids were at that stage, a friend who was a qualified nanny, told me to stop all nappy wearing at the same time. No nappies during the day, at night, while shopping or on long car journeys. She advised me not to cheat or to put one on "just in case". Apparently it is confusing to a child if there are occasions when it is acceptable to let it all out but others when they must hold back. If there are too many accidents, then the child is not ready and it's better to go back to full time nappies. Luckily, my kids were, on the whole, accident free.
Hi Ladies
I need suggestions and ideas on how to nappy train my 3 and a half yr old girl for nights. she is fully trained other wise for daytimes. i want to get rid of nappies altogather now.
Any Do's and Dont's?
Thanks :)
We went cold turkey. Put daughter to bed without diaper then just before we went to bed we picked her up and carried her to the toilet. She would have a wee, then we would put her back in bed. About two weeks of this did the trick. We were downstairs watching TV one night and heard the upstairs toilet flush. Never any issues after that.
Thanks ladies :)
my daughter also drinks too much water n milk....i have recently stopped her milk during or just before night, she is doing ok with the change. so now i want to get rid of her nappies. if she drinks just before going to bed ...her nappy gets wet during the night...but if she does nt. she wakes up dry!
so i am thinking after ur comments....if i can control her drinks before going to bed, I can probably train her.
Thanks for the help! :)
I think it's so much harder here as its getting hot and my kids all drink in the night I have to leave water in there beds or they wake me up....my eldest when I was in the uk had no drink before bed I'd put her on the loo at bed time and about 11 pm when I went to bed I'd put her on the loo again.....that's how she learnt, as she got older I stopped the 11 pm one and she was all ok...
My nearly 3 yr old would be ready now but she demands water all the time has soooo much wee lol I end up changing her nappy twice in the night....but if she didn't drink so much I think she d be ready ....I'm gonna wait until after summer around November time when it's cooler ....
it's one of those things I think that when they're ready they're ready....I tried to make sure mine drank loads before about 3pm then not drink a huge amount after and made sure they had a big wee before bed to cut down on accidents but they need the maturity to realise if they need a wee in the night they have to get out of bed...some grasp that earlier than others. For the first week they'll be accidents but those accidents should teach them that it is not nice to wee in bed and better to get up but as I say, they either get that or they don't...3 1/2 is about right to try though I would say
