How to stop the dreamfeed?

So I'm finally taking the plunge - months too late - LO is 11 months and trying to stop the dreamfeed as will be on hols soon and don't want babysitter feeding if we are out ( well that's secondary to the fact that at this age surely it's more habit than necessity?). He has 3 good solid meals a day and 3 milk feed. I've gradually reduced his feeds to 100ml from 250 and 930pm from 11pm. He slept straight through yesterday, today he's howling and I'm so close to giving in. Any ideas? How did you do it? Cold turkey?

Thank you ladies! Sorry for delay in response - Ramadan brain! So great update: left him crying that night, with a bit of soothing. Next night - he just slept through and slept through ever since! Fingers crossed (don't want to jinx it lol!) next battle - london jet lag!

For me what worked was to give the pacifier instead of the bottle, because I knew it was habit and not hunger. It took a few nights for her to accept it (I didnt give her pacifier in the day so she wasnt sure what it was!) and she would throw the pacifier in my face but I kept giving it instead of milk when she cried and finally she gave up :) Now the only problem is she needs the pacifier to fall asleep (she's 12 months) but better that than the milk bottle (for me!)

On a friend's advice, we just moved the 10pm feed to 7pm, giving to her just as she goes to bed. (So dinner, bath etc, bottle, bed) Probably not text book but it works for us! :)

I would keep reducing it- I reduced to 30ml and that would satisfy him so I just went cold turkey one night and he didn't wake up. Gradually reduce it and see what happens.
