DS is one and despite only having 4 teeth eats meat etc quite well so I'm sure he would be fine with the cheese, but I suspect it would be harder on his tummy than milk so I'll stick to milk for now. Am sure he would drink the milk out of his sippy too, he happily drinks water from it.

instead of sitting by him with a cup u can maybe also try n give it to him in a sippy cup so he can drink ti on his own. also the mozzarela sticks well u gotta stay with him when he is eating it to make sure he does not bite too much but well until now it never went wrong with us and neither with any friend.

Thanks Greenish, I did try a dairy-free diet when breastfeeding and it didn't seem to visibly help his reflux, but yogurt definitely aggravates it and I have kept him away from cheese thus far. I figured I would give him milk by cup rather than bottle, have tried it and he is happy with the taste so I guess I will keep an eye out for any reactions.

Be careful with cheese (sticks or otherwise) until the little ones are chewing really well. It's very easy for them to bite off a choking-size chunk. kiwispiers...if your little one is already having some dairy without adverse reaction, then he's probably fine with it. If there was going to be a problem, he also probably would have shown signs of intolerance while breastfeeding if you eat any dairy. As long as he's getting breastmilk, he doesn't 'need' cow's milk yet so just keep introducing little bits now and then. I'd suggest not giving him a drink of cow's milk until you're ready to stop bf'ing...he may find the cow's milk a whole lot less effort. ;) Lots of great info and advice on http://www.kellymom.com/index.html :)

My son is 12 months old and although I'm in no hurry to stop breastfeeding I would like to slowly introduce some cows milk as a drink during the day. He seems to get reflux from yogurt though, but tolerates cows milk in his rice pudding etc. Other than that he has no dairy (just mummy-milk :)) How would I know if he had a cows milk intolerance/allergy?
