This site should help you.
Babies should only be having a couple of teaspoons of food when they start weaning not a whole bowl full.
Thanks Big Blue. Yeah I gave her pear and prunes in lesser quantity for past 2 days. She pooped a lot day before yesterday but nothing from yesterday but she seems very happy and her tummy is soft. So Im not tensed yet! Never thought introducing solids would be this crazy. Now I can relate to what her pediatrician said. "Breastfed babies will face no problems till they are introduced to solid food". Sad!
Hi Mssassy, as others said avoid apple, banana, carrots, potatoes. You can search online for non constipating foods for babies and you'll find a lot of info. Generally speaking you want things that are high in fiber and also a lot of fluids. But it takes their system a bit to adjust to solids plus I believe the adjustment is slightly trickier for BF babies so it could be just that and she may not have trouble later on. Glycerine supps are ok, don't feel too bad about using them but of course if you reach the point where you feel you need them on a daily basis best talk to your Dr and see what they would advise. Good luck!
Hey Kenza had a hard day. We had to finally insert suppository and that did help. Right now she is playing with her dad and I feel so relieved seeing her back to normal. I think I gave her too much. Day before yesterday she had almost one apple and one banana, maybe that constipated her. Poor thing suffered much today. Ill definitely slow down from tomorrow. we bought some pears, plums, apricots and prunes. I'm thinking to give her pear and prunes tomorrow with a little water maybe. Lets see how it goes. She already drinks my milk like every 2 hours or so.

Hey hon, the pears are a really good idea. Broccoli is very good for constipation as well. Try to give her more fluids, more breastmilk, maybe some water? Don't give to much solids at once.. start with once a day.. then slowly increase. ALso, make sure the consistency slowly builds up, so its fine if it is a bit runny at first. Some babies are sensitive and since the bowel movement will change in consistency they will have to get used to that. Another thing that might help is moving babies' legs like a bicycle in circles… banana is fine if it is ripe, if it is a bit green that it can cause constipation.
Good luck.
Hi mssassy.....solids on the whole are going to be new to her digestive system, but I would avoid those particular fruits and veg for now as they are all quite constipating. You would be better trying some ripe pear, peach or apricot, but it could be an idea to go back to just breast milk for a day or so to help things settle.
I haven't given any solids from yesterday night. My DH bought glycilax- suppositories but not sure if I should use them. I'll try pear, peach or apricot tomorrow.

My DD(5.5 months) is having hard time trying to poo from yesterday. Its her third day on solids. I fed her carrot puree, apple puree and banana so far. Its really sad to see her crying while trying to poop. I know its common during this stage but I need advice. Just few mins back I gave her little raisin water as advised by my mom. Dont know if this is going to work though. Should I take her to the Doc or just wait and see. Should I stop giving her solids till she can pass her poop. Or should I try pear or apricot puree?? Im really worried and can't see her like this. She never had constipation when she was exclusively breastfed.
