I am still shocked. I just read by coincidence that it is not safe for the baby. So my DD is one now, and i am reluctant to wean or wait, but this is my 3rd day on Yasmin and i don't know what to do. I am not taking it for birth control, it's for another problem.
I know i should call the Dr, but she is quite difficult (if not impossible) to reach.
What to do? :(

Do not take this while breastfeeding. This is not a regular birth control pill. This contains anti-androgens. This counteracts the effects of male hormones and is contraindicated for breastfeeding and pregnancy even moreso than a regular birth control pill.

The real trouble with taking a bcp while you are breastfeeding is that it will dry up your milk pretty quickly.

Thank you ladies. I would probably not go back to the same Dr. In the 3-minute consultation the only instructions i was given was "take a pill on the first day of your period". Full stop. I do not know for how long or if the same instructions for birth control applies to me (which i read but don't understand).

stop the pills until you can get in touch with your Dr/see another Dr. Then decide what to do about the breastfeeding once you've talked to someone better qualified.

This isn't something that can be answered on the forum - check with the doctor (insist on speaking to her) what the risks are and then decide whether you're ready to stop BF. Ultimately, only you can decide once you have the relevant info from a trained professional (ie doctor).

Continue pills and stop breastfeeding or stop pills and continue breastfeeding? dilemma. You have to speak with your Dr to answer this really, why not call and ask to speak to her as a matter of urgency?
