Hello ladies!

I am 15 weeks pregnant, new in Dubai, just moved from Abu Dhabi. My next DR appointment should be in first week of February, so really need to find a good doctor asap. Hope you can send you suggestions...

I have read some earlier blogs and it seems that Welcare Hospital as well as the American Hospital seem to be sought after. My insurance does not cover outpatient in the AH, so thats not gonna work out. I would appreciate if somebody can give me a feedback on Medcare Hospital as I am based in Dubai Marina and Jumeirah location would be more convenient. I liked what I saw about Welcare on their website, so that definitely an option I am considering. Anything else???

Also, particularly the names of good DRs, or even bad DRs to stay away from, would be greatly appreciated.

Look forward to your replies...

Ladies I went to see Dr. Ulrich in Welcare Hospital yesterday, and I was more than satisfied. He was extremely friendly with both me and my husband, excited to tell us that we are having a baby boy :) He was very detailed in doing the ultrasound looking at every organ and part of the body explaining to us what is what, it was fun. Also he was very good in reassuring me that I should not be worried about the pain I felt twice in my ovaries area. Anyway, I highly recommend him and will continue with him for sure. Share your feedback ...

I've been to Dr Yamini twice or thrice, once being when I couldn't feel any movements and the other time when My SPD pain just shot up and started hurting like the devil. She was kind and gentle. Unfortunately, I cannot say much but found this thread of someone who delivered with her. http://www.expatwoman.com/forum/messages.aspx?TopicID=94702 While some people have had great experiences with Dr Luthra, one of my colleagues went through **** with her. And besides, she is very cold. But I'd still advice you to see a couple of docs and choose the one you're most comfy with. It's important to be able to trust your Dr completely. And you still have enough time anyway. :) Hope that helps.

Thank you all. I will check out the names you have all mentioned. It is getting harder to make a decision, more you read about it... I would like to stick with one dr if possible, rather than change him, so I will spend a bit more time researching. I have heard a lot about Dr. Urlich, so that's one possibility. For some reason, I am leaning towards Medcare. My friend is seeing Dr. Luthra there, anybody has any feedback? Stovetop , your advice about seeing Dr Yamini at Welcare Ambulatory Centre may be practical, its really close to me. Does anybody have any experience with her?

VGR just stay away from any Dr's for whom you have to wait more than 3 weeks for an appointment! There are some wonderful gynaes here, only sometimes by the time they have been recommended, they are so full that you end up with a "stand-in" Dr at delivery anyway. Good luck and congratulations.

Hi, and congrats on your pregnancy! I go to Dr Farnaz at GMC on the beach road, I couldn't recommend her enough. She delivers at certain hospitals in Dubai but mainly Medcare I believe. Good luck with your search.

Welcare is great. I see Dr Janaki there, but on different occasions have also seen Dr Ulrich and Dr Susheela. There's another doctor called Dr Santi Medhi who's really sweet. If you like, you can consider Dr Yamini at WAC (Welcare Ambulatory Centre) at Knowledge Village since it's super close. She is quite nice too. You will have all your appointments there and then she will deliver at the Garhoud main branch.
