Hi ladies, can anyone advise, is natural yoghurt helpful in easing constipation in 9 month old babies? I always thought natural yoghurt would help ease constipation + fruit yoghurt with sugar had teh reverse effect. Does anyone know for sure? LO doesn't like favour of prunes, but I am BFing her + giving her extra water. She doesn't like papaya either.

sorry about the price - but at 1/2 tsp at a time when needed - it lasts me like a year...and it should work like a charm...keep me posted

Nipped into pharmacy to check on the Probiotics powder you told me about designbabe, sounds great, but was a bit steep at 94 aed. Pharmacist said I could used 5ml of Lactulose to soften the works on a very occasional basis. Love the soft dates idea LJB2010. Actually let her nibble a bit of date for the first time a day or two ago + she loved it. So that's probably a good way to go. She wasn't too keen on Weatabix when I tried her on that this morning. Blew some very determined fat raspberries onto my spoon to show her contempt, LOL! But with a little persistence she may change her mind. Thanks Ladies! edited by KT on 31/01/2011

Try dates. Bateel has really soft ones that you keep in the fridge that babies can eat easily without being chopped up (just take out the pit). My son absolutely adores them and they do the trick.

thanks that's good to know DesignBabe. I'll get some. So you think that natural yoghurt does ease constipation then due to the probiotics it contains.

the best thing i can suggest is baby probiotics. DS had excema and we put him on the probiotics since 3 months and he has never had an issue. probiotics are the component of yogurt that help with digestion. i get ours from biocare from the pharmacy from organics. Whenever DS1 is irregular, i mix a little as required in his juice and he goes the next morning
