6 days late and panicking ... couldn't wait any longer (and for fear of drinking too much coffee and in desperate need of some vino) so I picked up a pregnancy test in my lunch break. Did the test, and only a faint second line appeared. It was only one of the cheapo tests and I have drunk a lot of water today. Can't get a Clear Blue until I finish work ... any experiences to share please ladies??

Presumably if I did have a bun in the oven the second line would have been as strong and clear as the first?

Thanks ladies! You're spot on about it taking a while to sink in. We're both still in a bit of shock to be honest, and although it's taken us totally by surprise we are thrilled. I'm just a bit overwhelmed by how much I need to find out because I now nothing about any of this sort of stuff. Feeling a bit wobbly at work today, but that's because we only found out yesterday. Really looking forward to having things agreed, organised and understood so we can enjoy the experience (hopefully!). Ah, the food restrictions aren't so bad for me as I'm veg, so don't eat shellfish and all that jazz anyway, but conversely, I need to make sure I get quality protein, etc. You be careful with all the crazy skateboarders over there! I feel for you re your holiday: we were planning a fab summer hols too, but now that's a no go and I feel terrible for OH about it. Got a BBQ at ours planned this weekend and have been telling people about the lagerita's (ala Nigella) we'll be drinking. Now I'll just have to pretend :( Enjoy your hols, best of luck and see you on the board :)

Yes, that's what I'll do, thanks Derien. I actually left the test in my car and just had to go and have another look in case I imagined it the first time: there is definitely a visible line, albeit nowhere near as dark or strong at the first. Blimey.

You need to take another test tomorrow morning when you get up. Your pee is more concentrated in the morning. The line will be darker if you are pregnant.

Any line as faint or strong as it may be indicates HCG levels in your blood. There's a good chance you are pregnant.
