Hi A1984. Is there a history of prem babies in your family? If not i wouldn't worry too much. My first little one was born at 33wks+4days. We have a long history of small prem babies in my family. Now pregnant with my second I will be flying 30wks and don't plan to tell the airline any of my business. I think it's a personal choice, if you feel comfortable and relaxed go for it. Trust your instincts. edited by MrsRayner on 11/05/2013

thanks for your reply mrscb......my concern is slightly different.....its not the airlines allowing me onboard....for that i will be taking a letter from my doctor.....my concern is....the fact that i dont have insurance....do u think i am leaving it too late just incase of any pre term complications.....or is this just an irrational fear?

Most airlines will be happy to carry you up to 27 weeks pregnant without asking questions. After that, when the risk of going into labour increases, you may require a letter from your doctor or midwife confirming your due date. It should also state that you are unlikely to go into labour on the flight and that you are safe to fly. Each airline has its own set of rules and a cut off point, when they may refuse to carry you. That's often around 36 weeks. If you're pregnant with twins or more, this is usually around 32 weeks. Tell your booking agent that you are pregnant and how many weeks you'll be when you travel back. They will be able to let you know if your chosen airline will allow you to fly. If you are booking online, check the airline's website, as most mention pregnancy rules.

I would ring and check with the airline. You may need a doctors certificate to say you are ok to fly. I flew with emirates and was 28 weeks and they asked me how many weeks I was but took the certificate from doctor just incase.

hi ladies, i just need some advice from all the experienced mums out there. I will be 32 weeks pregnant by the 3rd week of July. I do not have insurance here in Dubai and am flying back home to London to have the baby. I would like to know since i dont have insurance here, am i leaving it too late to travel back just incase (God forbid!) some complications happen. I would like to add i am having a fairly straightfwd pregnancy and my doc says i shud be ok to travel till 34 weeks. Just want some advice as to when should i travel in these conditions. Thanks
