The Studio at Al Wasl Square have made the Monday session at 10am a pre-natal yogalates class - a mix of pre-natal pilates and yoga. Tried it last week and really enjoyed it!

The Studio in Al Wasl Square near Safa Park are running pre-natal yoga and pre-natal yogalates classes now on Monday and Wednesday mornings. The class sizes are small so you get a more personal experience. I was impressed with the tranquil surroundings, really helped me and my baby to relax during the session!

quick update.... long story short .... i lost my job due to them finding out i was pregnant :( and that i intentionally with-held it from them but on the lighter side of life i am still enjoying my prenatal pilates class, only gripe being the fact that its filled to capacity :( Oh so sorry to hear this dubai marina. Did you confront your colleague before they found out? Whats important now is that you enjoy this phase and take it easy. When i was doing theclasses i booked myself for the entire period so that i dont miss out on my class. It is annoying that the space is little and is always full but try to betheir on time so you can take a good spot :-) Take care S

Hi dubaimarina I was initially staying in dubai marina as well and media city is fairly close :-) I did pilates in the evening with the instructor called . She is indian i believe and very nice. Goodluck and i am sure you will enjoy it :-) thanks sherry d, i popped in at zenyoga last night to enquire and spoke into the prenatal pilates instructor and she explained me benefits of both pilates and yoga and said their is only one prenatal pilates instructor in dubai media city and that is her. But she is not indian....so i'm not sure if its the same person u went to. She looks persian to me and from her family name i know she is Persian as i am half persian. All i know is her first name is Salma. So pls let me know if its the same person or not as i would prefer to go to someone whose reccomended. Boumboum , they don't have classes with Laura at dubai media city for prenatal yoga:( so guys i need other reccomendations as their are 4 prenatal yoga instructors to choose from. the only thing that put me off a bit at zenyoga are their prices. now i know classes are 75 minutes but how can they justify charging so much for a GROUP prenatal class??? Is this normal practise in dubai to overcharge for fitness??? As a newbie i really can't fathom the exhorbitant costs or am i making the first sin of expat life and comparing prices to "back home" today i want to go check out Club Stretch and see the cost of the bikram yoga and see if u can do it while pregnant because i did it once back home and it was awesome. Is there anyone who has done bikram yoga while pregnant??????? please let me know as bikram will be my first choice over pilates. thanks in advance and have a good day <3 Hi dubai marina Yes her name is Salma. The annoying bit about zen yoga is that overcrowd. But from what i recall after certain number they dont take any more. In regards to bumping into your colleague it is a tricky one. Depends on how close you are to her. Is she the sort who will spill the beans? If yes then id suggest you speak to your boss before he gets to know through anyone. If you can confide in your colleague then speak to her andhopefully she will understand being pregnant herself. Hope everything works out for you

thanks boum boum i called the studio and your instructor is the very same persian instructor Salma :) so i plucked up the courage and went to my first prenatal pilates class . It was really cool. Salma is pregnant herself so i felt safe with her. She chatted to me before the class, checked on me regularly during the class and just put me at ease as i was really intimidated (as the class was super full). the positives: i must say its the best 75 mins exercise class i have attended in a long time and her professionalism and technique really struck me with being on par with classes back home in australia.i really felt amazing after the class. I am now going to buy a package as you suggested. the negatives:1) the class starts at 6.15pm which is quite late and i only get home by 8pm. :( :( 2)You must book a place for the class ,you cant just turn up for a drop in class. 3)The class is really full and i feel if one is paying so much to attend a class then zenyoga should atleast make sure they have a bigger room, i really felt like we were too many pregnant women in that confined space. the biggest TURN off: I ran into a collegue from another department in the class and now i'm super scared she will tell my boss i'm pregnant. how would u suggest i handle this situation?? Should i confront her and ask her to keep it a secret? or should i just tell my boss now? i was intending on telling my boss in July and now this throws a spanner in the works as i am still on probation.

I have had post-natal pilat once with an indian lady - 8 months ago. Or was she persian? Very thin, dark skin and sweet. She was really good and noticed I had some abdos problems so couldn't do some exercices. I don't remember her name but ask the receptionist if it is the same person and if do you cannot go wrong! Regarding the prices, if you take a 10 class membership it gets slightly cheaper... edited by boumboum on 30/05/2012

Used to go to zenyoga studio for prenatal yoga. Just loved it and the baby too! I think the teacher's name was laura but not so sure. Look for a very sweet blong girl. Regarding bikram, I don't think it is recommended as heat isn't usually good while pregnant but might be wrong...

can sum1 pls reccommend a good prenatal yoga or pilates class for me . i work so something after 4pm would be great.i would really like to meet new moms and have a lovely class as i am new to dubai and pregnancy. TIA hi Dubaimarina i did pilates in zen yoga in media city when i was pregnant. they have evening classes and most of the time are fully booked so you need to make advance booking. i was very happy with them. thanks sherry d i checked zenyoga website (initially i thought dubai media city was quite far from marina area but once i saw the location map ,i noticed its quite closeby and not as far as i thought). and they offer both prenatal yoga and prenatal pilates. can u reccomend which instructor was good class? there are so many instructors i am clueless. there seems to be a class every night in the week with different instructors. so i am really confused. Also has anyone been to bikram yoga? i saw a place called club stretch near JBR so thinking can one do it while pregnant?? TIA

Hi dubaimarina, I've recently started going to Exhale in JBR - they have a Saturday morning pre-natal yoga class that I've really enjoyed. Think they do pre-natal pilates on weekday evenings but not sure what time. The full timetable is on on their website. i spoke to my neighbour although elderly and not pregnant she suggested i do both prenatal yoga and prenatal pilates as her daughter said it helped her a lot. i checked core direction website but they don't offer prenatal classes :( Also Real pilates is in JLT and they only have a 7.15pm class pilates class and no yoga...that means i only get home 8.30pm which will leave me knackered. and i would prefer to go to one place for both so i don't have to pay membership fees at 2 places. thanks jules an others for the Exhale recommendation. i checked their website and i'm a bit disappointed that the pilates class is only 45minutes ...not really keen on paying full price for a 45 min class although the location is really close to me. any other reccomendations would be appreciated. TIA

I tried the Real-Pilates class in JLT and it was good. Well I wouldn't know anything about Pilates as it was my first class ever but I walked out feeling great.
