Is it difficult going from one to two?

Appreciate your responses.

My sister has just had her third baby and now has 3 under 3yrs! She is coping really well. I think we forget that thousands of mothers cope just found around the world without nannies. Go for it with the second!

Hey JS I think babies are sleepers or not. If they like sleep they continue to sleep as they get older. My first didn't sleep much, still woke up twice a night till he was 2 but was really easy going so would just occupy himself. He was quite happy under a baby gym or in a doughnut thingy. My number two I think just hated being a baby, as she got older she got better. No 3 loves his sleep, and is still a champion sleeper but has now discovered that it's much nicer having someone carry you around all the time when he's awake :) My mother always said for her it was a breeze going from 1 to 2. Two of my close friends have 4 kids each, one of them found her first the most difficult and the other found her fourth the hardest, she wanted six kids but after her fourth she decided she wouldn't be able to cope with any more. edited by starsouthern on 09/01/2012

Five years difference between my first two, and all I can say is thank God older one was at school most of the day as baby number two was impossible. She never slept, she screamed all the time the only way to keep her quiet was to have her latched on all day. She was exhausting but so worth it. She's a lovely three year old now. Was dreading when baby number three came 6 months ago but he's been a breeze. It totally depends on the babies personality I think. Yes I was more confident with no 2 but she was completely totally and utterly different to no 1. Baby no 3 was easy, now that he's getting older though he's starting to get tricky. SS, I think I know what you mean. DD was a nightmare sleeper from birth until she was 8 months she woke up 2-8 times a night! DS (fingers crossed) at 8 weeks wakes up 2-3 times! It is amazing how different they are. He can entertain himself and DD had to be held most of the times...Before DS was born I braced myself for a really hard time, but it is (so far) a nice surprise (hope it will not change!!). ;) edited by JoannaS on 09/01/2012

Hmm.. I found it easier than expected. The age gap of 18 months so it is not exactly a breeze, but it is doable ;) With nr 2 I am defenitelty better organized and have way more confidence!

Well looking back ........... Two is easy!!!! Lol. Having 3 there is just no capacity to worry about trivia that u did when u had one as there are clearly not enough hours in the day. Strangely one thing I find hard to juggle is doing homeworks with the 2 older ones and a new baby!! The only time I get to sit down is if I arrange to meet friends !!!! Newborns are soo much easier than older children lol

well looking back it was... Looking back, I don't know what I had to complain about with only one child! lol. "oh, it's just so hard to go shopping with a baby! I don't know how I'm ever going to manage!"... yeah, fast forward 18 months and I was going shopping on my own with a newborn AND a toddler and THEN I knew the meaning of "hard work"! Hindsight is a wonderful thing!

I found it difficult and i have a full time helper. But some mums just do it no dramas. IAgree with H.A.K, depends on age gaps ect too. Mine were 2.4years apart which i found great. While DD1 wasnt in school she was still quite independant. good luck with your decision.

I think it depends what the age gap is! If you have them close together, then it's hardcore, but you're still in baby mode from the first and haven't yet had an insight into them being more independent (and how nice that is!). Mine are 21 months apart. On the other hand, friends who've got children 3-4 years apart seem to be able to be far more relaxed... after all, their 1st will invariably be in fs1 or school... grr. I had intended a 3 year gap, but my hormones had other ideas! And then if you have a larger gap, a newborn can be like being a first-time mum again... Anyhow, regardless of how difficult it may or may not be, if you want more than 1 child, it's something we just have to work through!
