Hi. Iv got a few kilos to spare in suitcase but am really unfamiliar with US shops. So those in the know please advise what I should possibly look to buy for DS who is 2. Ie what's alot cheaper in US compared to Dubai. Also please recommend shop names where I can find not too pricey clothes shoes books for toddlers. What's a good toy shop to look for Thomas the tank engine toys? Thanks in advance

I second the outlet mall recommendations and TJ Maxx!!! Whenever I go to the US I load up at TJ Maxx--they have tons of high quality, name-brand clothing at bargain prices. Brings a tear to my eye just thinking about it! Outlet malls are great, too. Are you familiar with the area where you will be going? Do you know if they have an outlet mall? Also, hitting the clearance racks at the major malls can really good, too (particularly if it is sale times). So, if you go to a mall, ask them where the clearance rack is first. Target is good and lots of people love it, however, during my last visit there I found it a bit pricier than I remembered. Don't get me wrong, still way cheaper than Dubai, but the prices were not the basement-bargains that I remembered... have any other Target fans found this? Like other ladies have said, I think it will be hard to stay under a few kilos. In that case, find the nearest Samsonite outlet and buy another piece of luggage! I love shopping in the US--you will enjoy it!

US sizestend to run small esp GAP, Carters etc so make sure you try the size or buy a least 1 size bigger. Check out Marshalls, Target,TJ Makk etc for mega bargains on designer baby gear but be prepared to rake!

Carter's is great and way cheaper in u.s. If you can find an outlet store, it's dirt cheap. (coming from me whom loads up every summer on trips to USA. Can't resist those bargains! If you happen to find an outlet mall, they also have stride-rite stores which are pretty good shoes. I was lucky this summer and found a geox outlet and got my son shoes for under $30 (100 dhs). They are 300-400 dhs here! Oshkosh is decent as well and nearly always next to a carter's. Old navy sometimes has nice stuff for cheap. I second target. Greatest store ever. The other nice thing about a lot of shops is they have sales all the time and often coupons. Just ask and people are helpful. You may overflow those few extra kilos! (I know I would!) happy shopping!
