Some antibiotics are perfectly safe if prescribed, as they don't cross the placenta. I was prescribed them for a recurrent infection at around 18 weeks. Trust your doctor.

Thanks Kiwispers, I was prescribed since then Flucloxacillin capsules for 7 days from Dr. Elsa, she says it's fine to take while pregnant so I really hope it is. On day 3 of it now but only see a very slight improvement so far, still a long way to go. Surely she wouldn't prescribe something she didn't think would be safe? The joys of pregnancy!

Hello Ladies, I'm just wondering if anyone has any advice on bad skin breakouts in pregnancy - mine is very bad, hard to go out every day with it like this, especially to work. I'm 4 months pregnant. I've been give Fucidin cream by the doctor but doesn't seem to be working. Is there anything oral you can take to help clear it from the inside. Any recommendations greatly appreciated, thanks. I really wouldn't take anything for it, I broke out a lot in the beginning and ended up with super clear skin for the second half, but it is just one of those times in your life you deal with it, taking antibiotics or hormones is not going to be good for the developing child (your hormones are doing what they need to be right now). One thing you could try is limiting your dairy and wheat intake. You obviously need to steer well clear of vitamin A products and birth control pills which are the two common acne treatments and I wouldn't be keen on a low dose antibiotic which is the other treatment.
