Bananas are well known to cause constipation. Even though your quantities are small, you need to get they belliez used to digesting simple foods. Rice cereal can also cause constipation but is recommended as babies need more iron at 6 mths. To prevent constipation I try to give water to my bub, also fruits such as apple or pear. Mashed pumpkin is good too.

I agree with shelly - start with simple stuff. Avocado is quite complex really. There's nothing in any of those fruit and veg that are really likely to create a reaction - and he's 6 months old, so less likely to react. It could just be that he's learning how to digest or could be something completely unrelated. But, as I said earlier, I really doubt that one small teaspoon of veg per day is going to challenge his tummy in any way at all.

Sorry to hear your DS is dealing with tummy aches! I am no expert but isn't it best to start babies off with just some Rice Cereal? Then once they are consuming that ok then you can introduce other fruits and veg every few days (minimum) to monitor possible signs of allergies etc. Could/would you go back to the basics and just start out with rice cereal, get him used to that then slowly start adding other foods. edited by shellly on 29/04/2011

I really, really doubt that 1 teaspoon is affecting him that much, but then again, it could be. Have you tried a different food? What are you giving him now?
