starting solids ... what time of day?

DS will be 6 months this weekend and we're thinking of introducing solids. What is the best time of day to start? (Both DH and I work full time and DS will start nursery mid-July.) We are working with Cecile and she suggested mornings - which makes sense - but it means that DH will only be a part of solids-starting for 2 days, i.e. Fridays and Saturdays, whereas if we do it at night then we can both share in it every night. But I'm afraid solids may be too heavy (LOL 2 tspns!) before bed-time.

Any advice?

I would go morning, as Cecilel said. basically because its easier to watch for adverse reaction, rather than it being too close to nap time or bed time, and also, any digestive upset can affect sleep. Its not that important that your DH be there, with time he will move to solids at night too and he can do it then. Other thing is, pick a time that he is interested, make sure he has his milk first so you are not affecting milk intake and if he isn't keen don't push it, just because he has hit the "magic number" 6 months doesn't actually mean he will suddenly be ready, there is a big variation between babies, just like with crawling, walking talking etc etc... edited by kiwispiers on 01/07/2012

I would give it at lunch time so the baby has time to digest it before bed. Agree! Also you'll have time to monitor your bub for any possible allergic reactions to the solids you're introducing.

I was adviced to do it before 2-3 in the afternoon. However, I started in the evening at 5 pm. I started with cereal and banana and had no problems.
