Thank you Kiwi for your balanced advice as always. I definitely think a scheduled section will be calmer than the emergency kind where you don't have long to get your head around it. I absolutely hate surgeries, I've had so many and usually for bad / painful reasons so actually having one with a positive outcome might be different. I will talk to my Dr about making it as nice an environment as possible, having hubby there and skin to skin straight away. After my first section I was driving after 4 days and walking around the following day, in fact I got so bored pacing the halls of the hospital I left a day early. I just don't think I could ever forgive myself if I ruptured and something happened to baby, or I could never have more children. We would like one more, I'm not done yet :) TDB hello! been ages since i've been on here (new baby). i just wanted to say sympathies and support. I had an ELCS and let me tell you it was amazing! so calm, lovely, husband with me from moment i lay down. then snapping away taking photos of the baby. if you know it is coming you can prepare. so sorry your first experience was awful. but honestly, an ELCS is so different from an EMCS.

You're a wise woman kiwispiers, great post. In your situation I'd choose a scheduled section, otherwise I think I'd spend every second of the labour panicking that I was about to rupture. I've had three scheduled sections (following one natural birth) and found them great. The calm controlled feel of them felt really reassuring and I liked knowing what was going to happen. I have problems with low blood pressure but they were aware of that and able to preempt any issues. It did mean a bit longer in recovery though. As kiwi says, there are definite benefits to sections, I can happily bounce on the trampoline with my children :) . The stitches are easier to look after too ;)

I had a scheduled section for my first and a vbac for my second. You will find the scheduled section a breeze recovery wise compared to your emergency. Fwiw if I were you I would definitely go for the scheduled section. After being assessed like that, they will be super cagey to key you labour and odds are you'll end up with another emergency section anyway. It will be a bit of a pain for you not being able to easily lift and carry your older baby while you recover, since the age gap is small. If you are planning on getting help, get it well in advance so your daughter is used to them, or maybe your husband can be more hands in to make sure she still gets plenty of cuddles. Consider some therapy/hypnotherapy before the birth. Honestly my scheduled section was for the most part a walk in the park, but if you have some emotional trauma from the first birth, you might find it stirs that up. Having done it both ways, scheduled section and drug free natural, I don't feel any more or less bonded to either baby, my milk came in exactly the same, and giving birth did not make me feel like more of a woman ;), it was simply convenient to be physically more or Jess back to normal after a week or so, vs the no heavy lifting etc with the section. Try and find a dr and hospital that will do a baby friendly c section, giving you the baby in your chest while they stitch you up and in recovery. It takes literally five minutes from when they lay you down until when the baby is out and it's soon as you have your baby on you, you don't notice the rest of the surgery. And there are benefits to a c section, like being able to confidently skip around a mummy-toddler gym class, without making sure you have gone to the toilet in advance!

Hi hun! I have been in similar situation. My last pregnancy i was being followed in Dubai for the first 21 weeks. 3 years ago i had cesarian and i knew for my second i absolutely wanted to attempt a vbac. I'm sure the dr's in dubai are great and i'm sue in your case with so much scar tissue your dr is making the right call. Mine told me the same despite me not having any other issues 'down' there and told me that early on that i may just end up being sectioned again. I just feel dr's here are quick to cut. However I went back to Canada at 22 weeks and my OB there was so soo supportive and told me there was no reason why I couldn't try- but i had to meet certain conditions a) i had to go into labour on my own as she would not induce, and that b)the baby was not breech c) a good size and weight. I'm so happy to say that with her support and guidance i did it. However I was prepared for the reality that if something went wrong I would be wheeled into the OR and i made peace with that. My c-section was traumatic to me, not because anything terrible happened- i just didn't expect it and wasn't ready for it and i wanted a natural delivery more than ever because i had a toddler to care for as well. All I can say is, trust your dr, and go with the safest option.

Relax, if you become stressed, it might worsen the matter. May the good God who gave you the baby accomplish the good work that he started in your family. God can do what man cannot do, praying for you edited by mara12345 on 03/03/2014
