I am due to give birth at welcare in march inshala and Nurse Amanda (head of maternity ward) mentioned in our antenatal classes that they will supply everything from baby nappies to maternity pads, etc..we just need to pack what baby will wear when we are leaving plus our own clothes if we dont want to wear hospital PJs... I am due at the end of March maybe beginning of April. It is good to know, so I will pack only "going away" clothes.

Pixie2011, the hospital will provide you with a hospital grade double electric pump and sterilised bottles, if you need. You can just request the nurses. Yes, definitely will keep it in mind. Hopefully the baby will be on the breast, but I might need the pump. Maybe in this case I would not bother bringing manual pump at all.

Good to know. I am planning to deliver end of March/beginning of April at Welcare. Definitely having a c-section and probably will be on the fluids for couple days. Hopefully will breastfeed and I will be sure to let them know. I wonder if you can rent an electric breastpump. I am planning to bring a manual one for myself. <em>edited by Pixie2011 on 23/02/2012</em>

u wont have to take anything with u... the hospital provide pretty much everything... tooth paste, toothbrush, shampoo, shower cap, shower gel, towel, bathroom slippers (the cloth hotel kind), night dress, night gown, baby clothes, baby receiving blanket, diapers, pads, wipes, etc... they even supplied a daily newspaper and water (in addition to the meals)... they even give u formula if u really cant breastfeed or choose not to... the meals on the first day after csec is fluids only... so soup, jello, etc... to ensure that ur not throwing up after the anaesthesia... and then on day 2 it's mostly veg stuff to ensure that ur not constipated... but on day 3 and day 4 u'll be eating proper meals :) lots of choice available... not hotel style but eatable for sure... u will only need to take personal stuff like ur music / laptop / chargers, etc... and conditioner if ur hair is like mine! they are happy to keep the baby with u or take it to the nursery... i chose to have the baby with me throughout...

I was there for 4 days. The food was fine. The first day they gave jello and soup and stuff like that. After that the menu was pretty extensive. @Lilli34, you can ask for the baby to room in with you. They brought us my baby whenever we asked for her, for as long as I wished.

Sorry th jump in on this. Does anyone know if they do rooming in for the baby or if it is put into the nursery after birth by default. I would strongly prefer rooming in , easier for nursing.

Hi Giti I gave birth and Welcare. You will need to take NOTHING :) The team of midwives led by Stella are excellent. Everything was provided, including wipes, diapers, pads, etc. I didn't open need to open my hospital bag till the last day when we gave them the clothes that we wanted to take home the baby in. You just might want to take a few breast pads and a tube of lanolin if you are planning to breastfeed. I didn't need those because my milk didn't come in very soon. If you have any more questions about Welcare, feel free to ask. Though I was upset about not having a natural birth, the care I recieved at Welcare was unforgettable. I went back after 2 weeks crying for breastfeeding help, and they were still as wonderful. Best of luck!
