Is it just me or do strollers cost a BOMB nowadays!

I am completely overwhelmed by the different types..and their price-tags! Since when did you have to spend over AED 1000 on a stroller? I think its unreasonable but what to do..all the decent looking ones are over AED 1000 at least!

sigh...I was watching the documentary-movie Babies the other day and marveled at the baby from the Masai tribe..not a changing mat, bottle or sterilizer in sight yet looked very plump, healthy and totally happy...and yes, no over-priced stroller either!

sigh...

Ayda247, I sent you an email. Thanks Papaye, Hauck is the name of the brand I didn't remember! Regards Dubizzle, I don't usually expect to negotiate the price and perhaps that is my mistake, if I see an advert for too much money I just ignore it. It is a shame that people are acting that way as for me Dubizzle is loosing interest. For example, I was looking for a hoover, blender and toaster and after looking at the prices in Dubizzle for second hand stuff I decided to buy them brand new in Carrefour for only a few dirhams more.

Nimonemo replied : I find Dubizzle is taking the pi*** these days asking ridiculous amounts of money for second hand stuff. I found a shop in Deira, next to the gold souk where they sells German prams for AED1000 but they include car seat, moses basket and chair. I dont remember the brand now but I will come back to have a look again. Nimonemo, please do get me the location..I work in Deira and would really like to check out this option. You can email me on ayda247at hotmail dot com

i had an email from someone regarding one of the items i had for sale on dubizzle. it was a jumperoo 695AED in the shops, a few months old. i put it on for 450AED and had the phone ringing off the hook but this email suggested my price was way too high and if i put it on for 150AED id get more interest! Needless to say it sold for 450AED

I find Dubizzle is taking the pi*** these days asking ridiculous amounts of money for second hand stuff. I have sold quite a few items on dubizzle and have noticed that many people offer such ridiculous amounts that you have to hike the price a little to get a decent price for your item especially if it is in a good condition. I even had someone haggling the price down for an item from Dhs50 to something like Dhs10!

You can negociate hard on dubizzle since there is plenty of options, specially Graco travel systems. You can find one for 200 to 300 only few months old. Also There are hauck brand (German I think) sold at carrefour which is affordable from what I remind.

It got to be those prices when they became an accessory with tripod legs and zippy, zappy funky names, however I doubt you'll find a travelling system less than a 1000. http://www.graco.net/e/ItemList.asp?code=301&s= I loved my Gracos, the last one I purchased was about 7 years ago, we only just gave it away...

Try Chicco at Dubai Mall when Shopping Festival starts, sometimes they have interesting prices for good quality.

LOL I was going to mention baby-wearing too but absolutely not in a negative light. I found it so convenient - really glad we did it with our younger child, and so wish we'd known about it with our older child. I can't even remember if we got a stroller for our younger one - we might have done at some point, but it really wasn't necessary.

Baby stuff is an extortion and from my point of view stupid to spend a lot of money in as the baby will grow eerything literally in months. But, who would not spend a lot of money in their first child???? I think it is better to put the money in a savings account and start saving for the school and university fees!

The Masaai babies, by and large, live short, brutish lives and are carried everywhere on the back of a hard working woman who loses a tooth for every child and will die early too.
