Yeah. I was going to add that we do fluoride free but then removed it because I didn't want to get into any debate. Lol. We are a totally chemical free family and use aloe dent for our toothpaste or I make our own. Coconut oil, xylitol, peppermint oil and baking soda. Xylitol is usually found in a health food shop or sometimes nutrition or pharmacy over here. We've found the chemical free toothpaste in pharmacies over here also. We use the same thing for the whole family.
I had those tablets too, awful....
we don't have Organics in Doha so will either pay a visit if I make it over the ditch to Dubai, or will have a look back home, am guessing a tube lasts a long time?
What do you use on your own teeth??
Lol..yep. I hear ya on the research & debate! :D
I'm the same with fluoride and yet another case where one size does not fit all. We grew up with non-fluoridated water and at our family dentist's insistence, my sister and I were given those horrid little pink, chalky, nasty fluoride tables. My sister's teeth are stained dreadfully, mine are not stained at all. Was that because of the fluoride for her? Would I have made it to 41 with only two, tiny, surface fillings without the fluoride? Who knows.
Anyway...I bought fluoride-free toothpaste at Organics. From memory all of the 'milk teeth' versions in the supermarkets there had fluoride in them. Yep...stock up in NZ. :)
I think (not sure) that most "regular" children's toothpaste has fluoride in it. Non-fluoride toothpaste is available in Dubai - don't know about your neck of the woods, though :(.
Was just having that discussion with a friend yesterday Greenish, in regards to our bottle water. I keep getting convinced one way and then the other and find it very confusing, but I don't think I'm up for reading any more debate today IYKWIM ;)
Is it hard to find non-flouride toothpaste or is all baby toothpaste non-flouride? Is this yet another thing I need to pick up when I'm back in NZ in March?
Cheers ladies
xx
We use the smallest smear of toothpaste on our daughter's brush. Mostly I just push the brush into the top without squeezing the tube at all so the amount on the brush is tiny. Otherwise, we still use a cloth to wipe her teeth as well. She's 15 months and has about 8 teeth.
Same here. I didn't use any toothpaste at all with my first born and to this day (he's 6) he detests the taste of toothpaste and we have a whinge-fest at every tooth brushing! With the girls I did just as SweetLilly describes and they are fine with toothpaste. (Then again, maybe they would have been anyway. :D )
I use a milk-teeth, non-fluoride toothpaste for the children. 'Fluoride or not' is whole other discussion and worth researching so you can decide what is best for your little one.

DS is 17 months and has 8 teeth, (and 5 very ominous looking bumps, poor wee guy:( )
I feel like they are looking a little yellow despite him not drinking anything other than water or BM.
Should I be using baby toothpaste by now? so far I've just used water.
