Can anyone please tell me where I can get a newborns pictures taken for a UK passport application. Somewhere close to Jumeirah 2 would be ideal.TIA.

For both of our Dubai newborns, we found it easiest to do it ourselves. You can get a plain sheet or towel of the correct background colour (we used a white towel) and lie it on the floor. Lie baby on the towel and take a photo from directly above his/her face. Any good photo shop with a knowledge of passport photos can then crop and print the photos for you. We found this much easier than trying to time a trip to the shop when baby is in the right mood. :)

We had passport photographs taken of our 6 day old baby yesterday at the Dubai Mall (Lower Ground Floor at the Star Atrium). They were great. They got a fantastic picture of her, including her eyes open and staring face on at the camera. They seemed really aware of all the different passport regulations for different counties etc (we were applying for a UK passport). Hope that helps.

I went to the photo place in MOE, nxt to the juice place. They were brilliant. THey held my baby up and then photo shopped their hand out. Took 5 minutes and would highly recommend them!

I used the one in Ibn battuta next to Geant for both my children. The guy is really good and even if you hold the baby he can change the background as per requirements. Just wanted to mention that for under one year old the baby doesn't need to have the eyes opened for UK passport. Just did my DD passport in July.

A friend of mine took her LO to a passport photo place and was there for an hour trying to get an alright photo that the passport people would accept. We just laid DD on the floor on a flat white sheet (can't have crinkles) and took loads of photos. We picked the one that was closest to the passport rules and took that into the photo place at Mercato - they know what to do with it from there. Tricky thing is to get both eyes open at the same time - lol
