there is only 1 company here that does water and electric, but depending on where your unit is there is also district cooling. if you are in normal villas/apartments its Abu Dhabi Water and Electric,but if you are in aldar properties such as Raha Gardens, Raha Beach, Al Bandar, etc etc you will have District Cooling for your ac which is done by Dimarco. You have no choice like in the uk.
you need to go to a main office to get connected, the ones such as in Marina Mall etc wont do connections. Give me an idea where you are located and I can tell you where to go.
Its the same with the phone, again only 2 companies here (really they are the same!!) Etislat and Du but some compounds (more so in dubai) you are restricted to which one you can use.
the connection will require a 1k deposit, that is for a transfer or new no difference at all.
if in company name then its a 2k deposit i think, if lease in company name also you will need trade licence too usually

Hi, the ADDC has a lot of branch offices, I know one that is just behind the Madinat Zayed mall. I had to transfer the bill from the building owners name to our name, but you can also get a new connection there. They will give you a form, you just need to provide the housing documents and visa, passport photocopies. Also you will need to clear the earlier bills if any. There will also be a deposit of 1000 for a transfer, I am not sure about a new connection.
Their timings are till 7pm, but the watchman there told me, that the best time to visit would be from 9am to 10am.

Might be a bit of a dumb question but is there only 2 companies for Water and Electric or are you able to shop around for the best price like the UK? I can only seem to find ADDC or ADWEC? Anyone know the procedure to get connected, documents required?
