Hello ladies,

DH & I are planning to spend our 2nd wedding anniversary outside the UAE just for the weekend. Anyone who can recommend short flight trip say Maldives or any country that's not difficult to get a visa? Thanks a lot!

Sorry to hijack yourthread but I'm seven months pregnant and would also love to get away for a few days without having to go thru air travel....except that I would be taking my 3.5yr old and the nanny with me and would love to hear some recommendations for places within the UAE. Also, what all's there in the Entertainer Travel book for UAE? Thinking of buying it but not too sure.

Try the Banyan Tree in RAK - amazing resort, quiet, peaceful and fabulous rooms plus some lovely restaurants plus save on a 2 for 1 with the Ent Travel book. We have booked for my DH birthday in October

Thanks ladies for all your input. I guess Maldives is fine, however, upon checking the average rate it's too expensive at this time!!! :( we might just try within UAE then, eirher Oman or Fujairah if that's the case as we need to go back soon for our baby... Still, open for any suggestions... Thanks a lot once again sweety!!! Honestly, for two days there's not really anywhere I'd recommend outside the UAE. Buy why not try one of the resorts here like the Banyan Tree in RAK, or even Banyas Island, or Bab al shams, or the one out in the desert.... can't remember its name sorry. You may well find that far less stressful if you're only going for a few days and have a baby, as you won't be too far away, yet you can have a fabulous time and not spend a fortune on travel nor waste your precious time away together on a plane

By the 'weekend' do you mean two days, Friday and Saturday? If you do then, I don't think the Maldives would be very suitable, by the time you get there, get to your resort (either by plane or boat), you would have to come back the next day! Hmm, not worth it IMO.

Not sure where you are from, but visa application is done by all (except Kenyan residents) once you arrive at the airport. Doesn't take very much time to do. Both venues are very romantic. If you want lazy and romantic, then head to Maldives/Mauritius as EFisher suggests.

We have just booked a 4 day trip to the Maldives and used the new Entertainer Travel. We go on Friday until Tuesday and saved, on the best rate, over $500 so the book has paid for itself. They also have 2 for 1 vouchers for hotels all over the place and with a chepa flight and then discount off the hotel room, save a fortune!!!

any country that's not difficult to get a visa? But where are you from? I found out recently that there are only 2 countries that a Lebanese can go to without applying for visa in advance.

Thanks a lot laughing_sid! We actually plan to go to some romantic place? Aside from Nairobi do you have any suggestions? I understand we still need a visa in Kenya?

Nairobi is only 4.5hrs away, Emirates have very sociable flight times. Head to Giraffe Manor - giraffe sanctuary, elephant orphanage all in the area. Perfect for a couple of days - if you want to go away for more like 4-5 days, head to a safari - there are loads for all budgets. Not all super expensive. Can you tell I just did this quite recently? went for 5 days, felt like a lot longer as you do so much and it's all marvellous!
