Hi Ladies, I realized I'm an idiot and didn't get guidelines from the hubby as to what, exactly he was after... In short, we are looking for 1: Manual 2: Powerful for its size 3: Aiming for 15-22k 4: Reasonably safe 5: Reliable & cheap to repair... hence likely japanese I don't mind if it's old, in fact I like older and well-used cars with plenty of character! I'm not worried if it's FWD or RWD. I've had an R31 Skyline, Volvo 850 T-5 (Mistake, An EB Falcon, and even a V6 camry on the track. Both have the benefits and downsides, I and enjoy both. Thanks for any new suggestions ladies. Sorry about that! E Have I got this right, your price range is between dhs15000 - dhs22000 or have I misread that (it is late after all) :)

He loves to drive, and feels autos are not as much fun, as you aren't "in touch" with your car. And he has a tendency to break auto gearboxes :) Still, when I can have my own I'll be getting an auto!

I know! I want an auto, he wants a manual. However I can't have my own car yet as I am still learning to drive.... not looking forward to the manual thing, I can barely get it together in an auto! Thanks though Ladies! Why is he determined to have a manual car? Hardly anyone drives them here, they're a nightmare with the traffic - trust me, he'll regret that decision very very quickly!

Honestly don't even bother with a manual car! You'll get peed off in no time at all. Bear in mind if you buy a car from another emirate, then you have to import it to Dubai! You're best bet is the big second hand car place at Al Awir, but beware, there are some dealers you shouldn't go anywhere near. Al Futtaim are pretty good with second hand cars.

My hubby also visited the automarket, and there seems to be a huge gap- yaris or lamborghini gallardo! Can anyone recommend and give directions to good car markets? Willing to go into Sharjah and Abu Dhabi as well as Dubai. And if anyone is selling, don't hesitate to let me know! Thanks E dubai and north are cheaper than abu dhabi for cars usually.
