If you are interested in adopting we found a very friendly small black kitty (approx one year old according to the vet), she wandered into our house and within minutes was sitting on my husbands lap, she is also not at all nervous of household noise - she sat in the kitchen when we were cooking not bothered by clanging of pots and pans. We have paid for her to be vaccinated, microchipped, blood tests, wormed and will get her spayed. We have also got her a 3 tier scratching post, bed, litter tray, collar etc. so she is ready to go to a new home at no cost to the new owner except food and her annual vaccination (due in a year). Unfortunately we cannot keep her as she doesn't like dogs, one of our dogs isn't keen on cats and it turns out I'm also allergic to her (no asthma for four years and one week with a cat, it's back). Feline Friends say they don't have space for her, we will keep her for as long as we can but she is in our spare room atm and we have visitors coming next month so we will have to let her out then, whether or not the dogs chase her off we don't know.

If you were to adopt one from Feline Friends, depending on the age of the kitten/adolescent/adult, it might have everything done already (ie if over 5/6 months - I have two fosters to be homed separately currently at this point), so a donation to FF is all you're looking at (and none of the hassle of vet appointments etc). If adopting a kitten from Dubizzle / non FF, it probably won't have had anything done so you mainly have to get:- Initlal First vaccination 3-4 weeks later Second vaccination plus Rabies vaccination Worming Microchip (sometimes done at vaccination point, or if not at neutering while under anaesthetic) Registration (15 dirhams I think) Neutering (Spay or Castration) at 5/6 months old If intending to be able to take cat/kitten to UK at any point, Rabies Blood Test (about 1000 Aed, I think). You will also need to purchase litter tray, litter, cat carrier, bowls, food, toys etc. And then take the cat for annual vaccination boosters. The cost of each initial vet stage above is between 100-200 dirhams each thing (maybe 300 for a spay), depending on which vet you choose. If you call a couple up, they will give you their prices. edited by assisi on 11/01/2011
