First i was loosing hair like crazy...every time i touched my hair used to come a lot in my hands, but i said: It's ok because of my hormones...then i got a lot of dandruff ... i jumped from treatment to treatment and finally the dandruff stopped but i got this white heads that don't want to go away...

I'm really desperate i don't know what to do, it's very annoying and painful...Please if anyone of you passed through this and got any solution i will more than grateful ...i even bought So safe water filter few days ago...but still no luck :'(

Thanks a lot for the info!! I will be contacting her soon.. Dear Colombiana Thanks for filling us in a bit more and am really sorry to learn the struggle. Unfortunately Hormonal issues can go on for many years undetected and misdiagnosed along with insufficient mineral and vitamin deficiencies before professionals pick up on them. I would not claim to be a medical expert but have certainly learned alot about medical issues through contact with research and hospital the hard way through my life and am a lot better educated than I was 35 years ago and disagree with your last line as doctors do not always test efficiently. All Hormonal issues may not be detected within a year . I am never writing to critizie anyone but to try and be helpful , we are always at the hand of experts but they do not always have the expertise in the condition/sympthoms we display. If your Gyn and dem could not help longterm , my only other positive suggestion would be see an endocronologist ( may be spelt incorrectly ) This number i asked a friend for as she goes to her and maybe she will be able to help you . If you do go to see anyone else, I recomdend you take all of your previous blood tests and notes to fill them in your picture and reduce you time and cost per visit. Dubai is expensive ( not wanting to tell you how to spend your money as another poster suggested ) I wish you well and hope you get to the bottom of your issue and look forward to learning in time life is going better for you ( if i stay on E W ). I get fed up with the constant knocking what ever the thread. One lady who has a very good reputation is Dr Fatma Al Marashi who is well known in Dubai ( Endocronologists) and her contact number is 04 429 7777 should you wish to investigate further.

Re reading the original poster thread , It refers to more than one issue that came to light following birth which is why gyn who specialises in pregnancy , birth and after care which affects womens hormones would be a good place to start. If the gyn feels a dem is required they would then advise that , where as a dem does not have the expierence and knowledge of a Gyn specialist. Not alot of difference in cost beteen a GP and Gyn but as she had issues after having a baby , would have thought specialsit to do with same was a better place to start. What ever op poster does hope it gets sorted. Thanks...

Please do not worry, it can and will be sorted. Give your Doctor/ specialist who ever you can easily speak with a call now and make an appointment. Please do not worry. Hi Jewels! I did visit my Gyn and dem...both of them, and whatever they gave me worked for a while but the problem came back...and not only came back i was jumping from whiteheads that after treatment changed to hair loss and vice-versa I think a year is more than enough if it was a hormonal problem...

White heads does not mean it is acne ! You would be best to speak to your Gyn as you have recently had a baby. Sounds llike maybe now you have astapholococcus infection. Seek medical advice to have it assess correctly. My baby just turned 1 year last week, that is why i'm worried!!

My husband used to have acne in his scalp and was so painful that he couldn't sleep. I too had a mild infection and the easiest way to get rid of that was a course of Doxycyclin tablets prescribed by my dermatologist for one month and we are now rid of the same. It is one tablet daily and the effects can be seen within a week's time. She had also recommended a medicated shampoo once a week and your normal shampoo for other washes during the week. Doxycyclin in the main medicine, it comes in various brands, any is ok. When summer months are here, I sometimes get this acne again and 10 days of these tablets and I don't have the issue for months. You don't need a prescription, but you can visit your dermatologist once to make sure you are getting the right medication. Thanks a lot for taking the time to answer me...God bless you :)

You poor THING!!! Tea tree is a good idea as its mildly antiseptic and antifungal but use it sparingly and in very dilute form as it can also irritate an oversensitized scalp in some people. It sounds like the sudden hair loss, hormonal changes and strong shampoos used following dandruff have made your scalp overreact. Sometimes when it does it forms a kind of blister pimple- dermatitis type- filled with lymph fluid. This is its way of draining off inflammation but it gets stuck under a layer of dried out ,hardened skin on the surface. Between the poor water quality here and the very drying atmosphere of ACs and sun- skin dryness and changes are common. If scratched or if you are low in immunity and are carrying stapholococcus in your system-these little blisters can become infected and spread.Whiteheads are just sebum filled pores with a keratinized surface and possibly a trapped/mutated/hardened hair. You need to soften the outer layer of skin and let it slough off gently, disinfect and allow to heal. Firstly- DONT pick or scratch.(your poor sick skin deserves the same respect and care you give your baby) Wash your hair in a very mild shampoo and only condition the ends if necessary. You need to moisturize your scalp- but conditioners contain too may 'sealing agents' and chemicals. I suggest you use a warmed scalp oil once or twice a week- possibly with neem extract in it (carrefour) Neem is a disinfectant and antifungal like tea tree but is less irritating. There are neem shampoos also but again the conditioners may irritate rather than soothe a scalp if they have a hair coating agent in them as most conditioners do. Use luke-warm water(not cold or hot-so no sudden dilation or constriction in the pores) and towel dry with a fresh towel each time in case your towel transfers the infection each time. You should also disinfect hairbrushes with boiling or milton 3 times a week a week and change pillowslips every 2 days. - If the infection is widespread- not just in local areas you have been touching(and we TOUCH more than we think- just to check on progress or alleviate itching)- then you may need a course of topical or oral antibiotics- but get Doctors advice on that-especially if youre breastfeeding.Even topical applications get absorbed systemically. - In Dubai we are all apparently very low in zinc- something to do with the water- I think. this comes from my GP very recently. Zinc is the mineral needed for maintaining skin health. My DH has been suffering what he thought was dermatitis and folliculitis for months and a simple course of zinc has cleared him in 2 weeks! Again- if youre feeding- please check this with your doctor. Avoid alchohol and yeasty foods. alchohol causes dilation and flushing of the vascular system particularly in the skin. The object is to CALM your system and thus return the epidermis to a happy state. Alchohol is also extremely dehydrating which then concentrates toxins in the skin which is an excretory organ. Please try not to worry and get as much sleep as you can and drink loads of water and feed yourself all good things. It will go away :) x WOW Sally!! I wish i had this answer before...THANK YOU!!! It's very kind of you to answer me in such a professional way... Now that you mentioned I had a lot of this whiteheads in my face also and one of the medicines i took was Zinc for Acne... my face got a lot better , but not my head, maybe i need to take it again. I'm not breats-feeding at the moment, my girl just turned one year on Thursday that why i worried so much, as it has been a long time suffering from this and i don't think it just hormonal ,I also got something alike in my arm and i went to a dermatologist that gave me a big treatment again with no luck...'> Now i can understand that it can all be the same condition... Thanks again for your advices, i will try to follow them

My skin went haywire during my pregnancy and although I thought it couldn't get any worse, it did after DS was born. I looked awful :(. I had loads of spots in my hairline and on my face so I saw my GP and a dermatologist and they gave me topical creams, which helped, but in the end it just took time to clear up - I guess once my hormones settled down. I think this was about four or five months post-birth. I'd say it would be worth a trip to your doctor. The last thing you need right now is to feel low about how you look.

Since tea tree oil is good on acne (it is also good for dandruff) I would recommend you try a shampoo/conditioner that has tea tree oil in it. There is a shampoo/conditioner by Thursday Plantation that I have seen sold here in pharmacies (I can't remember which pharmacies though, sorry). For some reason I got dandruff while living in Australia and I used their tea tree oil dandruff shampoo/conditioner and it cleared all of that up and completely conditioned my scalp. It has a strong medicinal smell though.. but it worked wonderful for me so I could get past the smell. Maybe The Body Shop may have hair care products with tea tree oil as well. edited by Abaddon on 18/01/2011 Thanks a lot for your answer!! I didn't think i can use tea tree oil for my hair , i use it for my face sometimes and i don't worry about the strong smell.

losing hair etc after a baby is due to hormones , don't need a dermatologist , it is not acne . Don't waste money where not required. um...maybe telling ppl what to do with their money seems a little um....how shall I say it nicely? Well condescending maybe? Trivialising someone elses medical problem and diagnosing outright also kind of smacks of superior knowledge-assumed or not- I cant tell but some of the info and bedside manner is slipping if you are registered. The OP was worried about some kind of spot eruptions- not hair loss- and- whiteheads on babies caused by maternal hormones-are called baby acne sometimes. SO- the term acne can be loosely associated with a type of raised, exuding rash that will not clear easily and is used as a descriptive word we can all relate to- being a common ailment with a specific type of appearance. Without an accurate and informed diagnosis - who can say what it is? There are many types of acne too- not just vulgaris vulgaris the killer of teen esteem. Acne can be caused by hormones and infection as well as a type of contact dermatitis, stress and allergy (rosacea type) There is absolutely no reason why she should not see her doctor about it- be it a Derm or GP. Either could reassure and help her. This is not money wasted. Advice given on a public forum-including mine- is generic and suspect without credentials and the face to face trust we place in our health professional's sincerity contributes to the patient having patience with the treatments and taking them properly and their self esteem and self healing.
