I am looking at the legality of into hiring a maid/nanny part-time, for 10 hours a week. I just met with a lady who is sponsored by a family but works part-time for other families..she has a letter of no objection from her sponsor to say she can work and has a visa, housemaid workcard...so can she legally work for me? what are the consequences for me if this is not legal and I decide to move forward with it?
thank you for any direction

Was there not some talk on a post some days ago saying the law was changing to allow part time work? I may wrong? Personally I use an agency to be safe cos hear so many different explanations I never know what the law is...very naive of me I know! Yes there was but I think its one of those grey areas in Dubai.

thanks....so what do people do if they just need a few hours a day with help with younger kids at homework time, dinnertime and bit of cleaning :( other than a cleaning agency (cause that is all they will provide) any other options?? nope. But, I think someone on here knows about proper nursery maids? May have imagined it, but they may see this and post. However, if you get an agency maid in to clean, prep dinner or whatever, and theyre mostly very good, that could free you up to concentrate on the kid bizzo, no?

No, No, NO. You can either sponsor a maid or use an agency - they are your ONLY choices. Everything else is illegal and YOU not the maid can get up to AED 100,000 fine and six months in jail......
