How do you know an agent working for a landlord is the 'real deal' and not a scam artist? Are they required by law to be registered with RERA?

Always insist on seeing proof of ownership with a matching passport copy IN THE SAME NAME!!! Also if the owner has UAE residence you need a copy of that too. Any real estate agents worth their money will not even take a deposit ubtil they have these documents in their possession.

My sister recently had a villa fall through and this was through a very well known UK Real Estate Company. The Landlord didn't even the own the property as yet cause he hadn't even made final payment on the property and she was only told this at the 11th hour when asking why the Landlord had not signed the Tenancy Contract.

I would call RERA and ask them directly. The website says that the list they have online isn't fully updated. Also you can ask the agent to provide their license number and you can use that to ask RERA.

Thanks. I've already checked there but no success in finding the company or the agent. He had blue prints of the villa along with the other 3 that are next to it that were really detailed. His email address includes the company name. For example: [email protected] It was that I couldn't find him on the government website that made me a bit nervous.
