Due to the shape of my uterus, I have a higher chance of having a breech baby. I'm with Dr. Braithwaite and she is willing to deliver a breech baby vaginally..

They won't turn babies here they are not allowed to even try, so it is usually straight out cesarean unless the baby turns itself. My daughter who was born in June was breech and Dr. Elsa at City did try to turn her. I've spoken to a number of women in dubai who have also had ecvs. Unfortunately it didn't work and I went on to have a c-section. We discussed delivering her vaginally and while my dr didn't refuse outright she strongly recommended a c-section. The delivery went well and I'm glad I followed her recommendation. While the cs was not my ideal in the end it wasn't that big of a deal. Good luck to you!

Two more OBGYNs who deliver breech babies vaginally and/or try ECVs: Dr Raj at American and Dr. Elsa at City, from what I've heard from doulas who have attended births with them. <em>edited by SweetLily on 07/09/2012</em>

I asked about having a version at Latifa when dd2 was breech, but they told me that no-one was authorised to do it at the hospital. Not sure why.

My third baby turned to the breech position at 35 weeks, I tried everything to get him to turn naturally, my obgyn Dr Hibba, would not even discuss attempting to turn him as some hospital i think dont allow it here because of the risks, I therefore had a c-section and the care I received was second to none, I can highly recommend her she is based at Dr Sulaiman al Habib Clinic at Health care city and delivers at City Hospitol.

There are a few OBGYNs that turn babies here and I do think that there are OBGYNs that deliver vaginal breech babies. I have heard that Dr Helena Taylor and Dr Braithwaite both have done them in the past. Edited to say: The thing with the UAE is that policy is in place for one thing one day and the next it's changed. Or it changes from Dr to Dr and from hospital to hospital. Because someone in a clinic or hospital here says this is how it is, it doesn't mean you can't call the same number five minutes later and hear exactly the opposite answer... sometimes from the same person. So every mother's experience of birth and parenting is different too. If it has to do with a governmental office or healthcare, continue to ask around until you find someone who will give you the answer you want. I suppose that would be my best advice to anyone moving here in the future. <em>edited by SweetLily on 05/09/2012</em>

Just to correct the info, Dr. Zainab is still "allowed" to deliver, but she gradually chose to stop deliveries since the birth of her latest twin grand daughters, whom she is very close to, & is personally taking a direct role in bringing up. She is still very active in the clinic, including turning babies in the womb. Infact her clinic is very busy and she is as popular as ever.
