my DD is 10 months and i have a feeling that my milk is drying up. She is exclusively bf and does not accept formula, have tried bottles, cups everything. so hows important milk is at this stage? if she is not getting enough breastmilk then would she able to get enough nutrition from solids. her weight gain isnt good either. Please advice.

thnx for the response..if u dont mind, how much did u give cow 's milk and what part of day? i try to give her in a bottle at daytime, she doesnt take that, but when she wakes up hungry at nite then she would drink an ounce or two. Hmm... let me try to remember! With DD, she dropped her evening feed at about 10 months and so I gave her a cup of milk instead just before bed - in a Tommee Tippee, so about 100-150ml? When she dropped her morning feed at 11.5 months, I replaced it with another Tommee Tippee of cow's milk. She'd been sleeping through the night (so no night feeds) from 9 months old. With DS, he stopped waking fro night feeds at 11.5 months, but I also gave him a sippy cup of water to have in his cot, which he would wake up and drink. He wasn't interested in any other milk at all, so I was keen to hang on giving him my milk, but when we stopped, it took a few weeks for him to like cow's milk, so he'd drink anything from a few sips to a whole cup, again, morning and night. During the day, both my two far prefer milk to water now, so I give it to them as and when... we get through about 1.5l a day as a family!

Please advice. How often are you feeding her now? Also, you say her weight gain isn't good - but is she following a steady upward curve (centile line) or is it just that the paediatricians have an unrealistic vision? My DD self-weaned at 11.5 months, after dropping to a single feed a day about 4 weeks prior to that. She was growing increasingly unhappy after the single feed and so it was pretty clear that she wasn't getting much milk from me at all. I moved her straight from bm to cow's milk and there was no noticeable difference. She also had a healthy and varied solid diet. My son dropped to 2 feeds in 24h from about... er... 8 months old, which worried me at the time, but he was fine with that. He continued on the 2 feeds a day until about 13 months old, at which point I wondered if he'd be fussed if we stopped, so we did and he wasn't. Again, he has a healthy, varied diet and went kind of straight on to cows milk, although he wasn't too keen to start with. Neither have ever had formula and are healthy, happy and growing like crazy things.
