Since last week Thursday, DD has been refusing to nurse on the right breast! It's very frustrating as she takes the fore milk and does not want the hind milk! She will nurse for 5 - 8 minutes and then takes herself off! I will keep offering it to her, but she literally gags and starts to cry with the teat in her mouth :( Put her on the left breast and she empties it! There is definitely milk in the right breast, as I pump it to keep it stimulated. Also, no pain or anything that could indicate a blocked duct!

My left n*pple is starting to take a battering as all her feeds are from her for the past few days now. No infection in the ear as we took her to the Dr on Saturday, so we have ruled this out!

What could it be? Has anyone else experienced this? Have started taking Lecithin last night as a supplement.

Am going to try and pump it and see what happens if I offer it again?! too fast for her then Try lying down and placing her ontop of you to nurse to the flow has to work uphill - will slow it down for her :)

I think it maybe the differences in flow between the 2 breasts, ie; one is slower/faster than the other, maybe your right side is slower and after she's quenched her thirst she's too impatient to either wait for your slow flow (!!) or lazy to put the work in to empty that breast... my baby favours one side as well and like meals I just make sure I offer the least favourite side first to avoid block ducts and then switch to her favourite boob when she gets fussy - she sometimes pulls a face that looks like she's thinking "urrghh!!"

I had the same with my previous 2 LO's (not with J yet...). I figured it was because I was left-handed, I was actually more comfortable feeding on the right side so he was more relaxed and comfortable feeding on that side too. What I ended up doing was always offering the left side first and then the right to ensure he had enough milk (when he was particularly fussy). Eventually they got over it when they were older and latching was more "self-service" ;)

Hi I had that prob with my son, but he prefered my right breast, even in the hospital he refused to latch onto the left, always prefered the right one. In the end my left breast would get so engorged i had to express whilst he was feeding. He just never really took to the left breast and to this day i can not figure out why?! I just kept on offering it to him and i think he came to his senses after a lot of persistence from me. Good luck though and keep trying, sorry if i was not much help.

LOL! I am here :D ... A bit too busy though! The two little boys are a handful! Plus loads of changes in my life. Have quit my job and have a major move coming up this month. Leaving Dubai for good until we decide to relocate again. I am all excited though as finally I would be with DH :) ... He would be able to see his children growing! So packing, shipping and shopping :D ... Not much time in hand to be on EW. You can mail me though ;) Great to hear DD is doing well :)

Where the h*ck have you been??? I've missed you on the board and often wondered how the two of you are getting on? Please update!!! I can't complain much about the b'fing, it has been hard work, but DD has taken to it well! Apart from the usual challenges (and the awful growth spurts), we have persevered and she has filled her legs and cheeks nicely ;)

Hiya plumie :) ... I cant help you but just wanted to say you are not alone in this *trouble with breastfeeding* category :D DS would refuse to drink from me .... sometimes a complete day!! And I have to express to feed him or supplement him with formula. He is so much different from DS1 who used to prefer breast to bottle. But this fellow loves bottle more than breast :/: Hope the little one is doing great! Mine is pretty short tempered :\: Did you notice that with your little one?
