Hi Am travelling to the UK next month..please advise what I should be looking to buy for LO aged 11months ( up to age 24 months when we likely to do next trip). I know toys, clothes are all cheaper there but can you please specify things that 1) cant get in Dubai eg sugar free Calgel 2) things that I'll need for this age 3) any specific toy or book recommendations that your LOs love.
thanks in advance

Asda is fantastic for books. They have a whole selection of kids books for £2 each. They do a range of nursery rhyme books which come with a cd so your LO can put it on and listen to the story being read whilst following it in the book. My DD Loves them!

The company who made Ashton and Parsons (SSL International incidentally made Durex also) have been bought by Reckitt Benckiser (RB) in November 2010. I've contacted them via email a few days ago looking for A&P and still waiting for a response! Apparently from other mummy forums I've gathered there's been a blip in production due to issues in the factory but the stuff is re-appearing in the shops slowly. Which is good 'cause I need to get my grubby little mitts on some as I'm going to run out soon....

I think there's a UK shortage of A & P teething powder going on. When I went back over xmas I had to settle for Nelson's teether instead as after 8 shops I couldn't locate any. I've also heard friends and relatives say that they're struggling to get it. As for pain relief, I would suggest getting the sachets as they are dated forever, there's little wastage and you don't have to carry a bottle around. I have Nurofen for Children which is colour and sugar free. As for original question, I think Hello.Again.Kitty pretty much covered everything. Clothes, shoes and books are a must, everything else is just a bonus! Maybe some nursery rhyme or story book CD's that LO can listen to, or even DVD's of things like Sesame Street?

- sugar-free calpol/ ibuprofen and bonjella - cough mixture if you use it (it's not packed full of anti-histamines over there) - clothes (Tescos/ Asda/ Sainsbury's/ Primark for cheap'n'cheerful) up to 2yrs (or 2.5yrs cos it's not going to go to waste - swimwear (again, Tescos) and sunhats - pants (again from the supermarkets) for just in case you start potty training in the next 12 months) - Pjs - crocs/ shoes in the next size up. Get your crocs from SportsDirect (online prices are cheaper still than in-store) - I got my son's next pair for £5. - Books... just hoover anything up! He'll start liking more story-based books, so anything (and everything) by Julia Donaldson, for example, will be a hit... - Toys, well, again... anything is cheaper over there, so if you have any favourite sets, like the ELC Happyland lot, then grab it. Check out Friday-ads (like Dubizzle) for second-hand stuff. Wooden train tracks are often a bargain second-hand. If you're doing a large amount of shopping at Boots (they also stock ELC stuff), then do get their Advantage card... it's just points, so not a store card, but you can redeem those points to pay for more stuff - and they're very generous.
